Thanks to the New York Times and Ashe Mischief, I’ve become completely fascinated with ‘haul videos’ so much so, it’s time to give it a go. Tonight on my way home I stopped by the local drugstore, Walgreens, to get ‘nail polish remover’ since I painted my nails two weeks ago, they were looking really terrible. Well, I ended up getting a bunch of crap I think I need, including Pop Rocks and Cracker Jacks.
Interesting facts learned from this.. Pop Rocks are made in Spain, and Cracker Jacks… dude, my prize was a paper Alexander Hamilton. Really? Yes, A. Hamilton. He’s the guy on the $10 bill, only it wasn’t a $10 bill. Dang.

I LOVE late night drugstore shopping & pop rocks too! This is really cute, like hanging out & chatting with a girlfriend! Love it! More videos please

Whew, I’m glad I’m not the only one… late night shopping is the best! I’ll try to do more videos… this was really fun.
Gosh, you’re charming! It’s impossible for me not to buy a bunch of stuff at drugstores too. Go in for eye-liner, come out with eye-liner, lipgloss, nail polish, hair stuff… candy, yep. Hey, I remember when Cracker Jacks had actual toys, too. And cereal, I don’t think they put toys in cereal anymore. I had a whole collection of little figurines I used to play with all the time.
What? They don’t put real toys in cereal anymore? WTF? I had the cereal toy harvesting down to an art. Getting it out without touching the cereal.
But yeah, I don’t go to drugstores too often, they’re dangerous.
At least you got the cotton balls and polish remover. I have a 24 hour Walgreens a mile from my house and have gone at midnight and come back $75 poorer and without what I went for! I am a drugstore addict!

24 hour Walgreens? Wow, where do you live? That sounds like heaven.
There’s a 24 hour Walgreens on Divisadero + Lombard in the Marina. I’m in the center of town, but I go there at weird hours when necessary. Bonus, most things are not locked behind plexiglass! (Like in my neighborhood.)

You are adorable! Oh, and I totally do the same thing. It’s extra hard for me, because the Walgreens is right next to my apartment, so when I’m bored I’ll go walk around in it sometimes, resulting in tons of nail polish, moisturizer, and candy that I just dont’ need.

Holy moly, that would be so hard, I love wandering around Walgreens, well, when the merchandise isn’t behind bullet proof glass.
That’s so funny. I have an odd attraction to every aisle at hardware stores, as if any of it made sense.

Oh hardware stores are just as bad, because there it seems like anything is possible. Anything.
Fabulous. I too, am totally addicted to YouTube beauty/haul videos. It’s kind of my dirty little secret. I started making my own as well because I really think it’s wonderful to get an honest opinion on products from someone.
And gosh…. have I ever spent unecessary amounts of money on unecessary products at drug stores… sigh.

Those videos are a dirty secret! Like, it’s more mesmerizing than reality tv!
OMG, these haul videos are insane!

JENNINE! OMG. I love you for doing this. God, I’m so glad I rarely go in the drugstore anymore… because I always came out with like $50-100 worth of stuff. It was as bad as Target.
You’re totally hysterical in this-you have some of the best sayings in it. It makes me wish we were buying drug store goodies together.

OMG YOU AND THE POP ROCKSSSSS.
I remember they started to sell them more actively after Urban Legends came out, and so naturally, I HAD to eat them with a Pepsi (or Dr. Pepper, actually, because I don’t like Pepsi). True story. It’s really just funny to have a mouth of carbonated soda while those are popping in your mouth.
.-= Ashe Mischief´s last blog ..Times Like These Time & Time Again =-.
OMG I have to try that. God bless Dr. P.
That’s so funny, because I said , “damn, look at my basket…this is just as bad as Target.” while standing in line, and the lady in front of me laughed.
Well, one day we’ll have to do a run together! I have to get my ass out to New Orleans!
And I need to get my ass to SF!
We need a blogger caravan, driving across the country, doing little haul videos. “We’re at a convenience store outside of Bumfuck Nebraska, I bought a Dr. Pepper, a bag of Funyuns, and a twix, because sitting in the car with 4 other bloggers makes eat like I’m stoned… or maybe I am….. and I bought these funny sunglasses and a key chain. And a red bull, because I got the graveyard driving shift.”

that would be the most amazing thing in the world. the most. amazing.
I love this! You are very likable! I would love to meet you for coffee sometime-I work in San Mateo. I love drugstore hauls. There is something about getting all those products that is intoxicating. Sephora is even better -like a candy store! I just started making videos too and it is kind of fun!

Oh yes! Well if you’re ever up in SF let me know… I don’t have a car, so geting down to the peninsula is tough…but yes! Let’s do it!
You are so cute in this video! Drug stores always have so many tempting things lining their aisles. I usually can’t leave without a new color of nail polish. I can’t believe they keep all of your cosmetics locked up in the city! Crazy stuff.

You are GORGEOUS! And so cute too. Late night shopping is actually fun, isn’t it?
A while back me and a girl friend went to the movies later in the evening and after the movie the shops at the mall still worked (in Russia shops and cafes and everything works till very late even on weekends) and somehow we ended up buying matching leggings… lol
What are YOU thankful for? Come share a story and win a little thankful something!

I don’t like washing my face either!
Yes! I am also oddly drawn to the idea of haul videos. And prone to Long’s/Walgreen’s therapy. But I was thinking of a haul video from, um, Neiman’s…or Chanel. Or Barney’s New York in San Francisco. Yes, actually, I’d do Barney’s, starting downstairs with their makeup and perfume counters, and moving up, to shoes and beyond….Ha! I had better start evaluating my investments.

OMG! I’m so glad that other people have the same problem with Target and Wal-Greens. I go in and think, “I am just going to get toilet paper and maybe a vitamin water….” And then, I start looking at beauty products, and then magazines, and then vitamins, even the “As Seen on TV” aisle. Do Wal-Greens in California have those? You can buy like snuggies, bump its, and those weird bra things. And I start thinking… “No I really need this stuff!” And then its on special and so you get a 2 for 1 type of deal.
Target is the worst though, I cannot even go to any other departments other than the ones I need to go to. Haha! It’s terrible!
Jennine, You are adorable.

Nice job on your first haul, but you forgot to read EVERY single word on each of your packages. I got some Cracker Jacks recently and got a paper pencil topper with ants on it. I remember when it used to be cool prizes too! It’s also kind of annoying that each bags of Cracker Jacks comes with maybe one or two peanuts in the whole bag of popcorn, but I guess it’s exciting when I find myself biting into an unexpected peanut.

OMG!!! HOW CUTE ARE YOU!!!!!! So glad you did this!! lol I can’t believe you were able to do that with your friend there! THAT IS AWESOME!!! I would have been so nervous LOL…and I always spend WAY WAY too much at random drugstore trips. Today I spent over $100 at Target on “things” ??!?!?! And I still haven’t processed that Pop Rocks are made in Spain?! Who would have guessed!

There is a Walgreens only 4 blocks away and I have been known to go to pick up one or two items and leave with things I had never set out to buy: nail polish, lip gloss, hair styling products, candy, really cheap DVDs, random magazines.
This vidoe reminds me I must head to Walgreens to buy hair colour and check out the mascaras since the mascara I used to buy is out of production now. Curse you Revlon for getting rid of Fabulash! I know I will buy more than I mean to and will have to chant in my head, “You do not need this…put it back!’ while I finger the shiny new objects for sale there.

I can’t figure out if you are being mocking of the haul videos, but you are totally hilarious in this either way. xxx
Well let me just start by saying you are too cute for words!! I feel like every girl has gone through this experience at least once. I have learned that when boredom sets in drugstores are just evil with all their discounts and promises of unconditional beauty. Although, most of the time when I grocery shopping I always end up in the make up aisle at some point and always seem to need a new nail color (oh and in case you were wondering I live in a state that has a Meijer, also if you didn’t know its a giant superstore with everything from bullets to parsley). BUT, by far my favorite part is when you told Loreal exactly where to go if they sizzle fry your hair! I love that and could watch it over and over all day! I thought it was so great I called my husband in the room to watch it too! He actually found it quite funny as well. He appreciates good sarcasm and funny lines more than anyone, especially since he’s married to ol’ sarcastic me! So that’s all i have to say (wow its a lot though)….but you are beautiful and I enjoy reading your blog. Have a great rest of the weekend!

Pop rocks! I love the urban legend that goes along with them that if you eat them with soda pop you’ll actually die. To this day, even at 32 years old, I’m still reluctant to try and disprove the theory!

You’re adorable Jennine! The haul video was pretty fun to watch (and thanks for the shout-out about the cuticle oil…I actually brought my cuticle oil pen with me to work today so that I could moisturize my nails in between tasks). We don’t have Walgreens in Vancouver, but I’m just as bad as other commenters when it comes to wandering around Londong Drugs or Shoppers Drug Mart and picking up “unnecessary” purchases.

I have yet to walk into Walgreens without leaving with six tubes of lipgloss, new body wash, some ridiculous face cream that inevitably breaks me out, and all kinds of other ridiculousness that rings up to the $70 range. I’m SO glad I’m not the only one that’s seduced by the drugstore!
BTW, I also hate washing my face at night, but a lot of the pre-moistened towelettes make me break out. I bought the Cetaphil gentle cleanser (also a drugstore find) and I rub it all over my face when it’s dry, then wipe it off with a tissue or a warm washcloth. It’s really quick and feels like you’re skipping a few steps, and my skin has literally never been clearer. And no mascara stains on the towels or pillowcases, because my hubby hates that, too.

hahaha! you and your poprocks are so cute!
Drugstores are dangerous! I usually overspend on nail polish
and candy - oops. I think they probably lay them out so you have to walk through
the aisles as much as possible - and get more stuff you “really need!”
