Today’s Attire: Winter Day, Summer Dress & Chubby Squirrel

One the the great things about winter are the winter accessories. One of the bad things about winter is you have to pile on the clothes in order to keep warm, and not always in a way that looks chic. Lately, I’ve been wearing jeans pretty much every day, while I love them so much (and why I have the Eat, Sleep, Denim blog) sometimes it’s nice to wear a dress on a winter day. Doo.Ri had given me this beautiful dress back in September, and it was perfect for the tail end of the summer and I was missing wearing it. Longing for color, texture and something different to wear other than my winter uniform… I pulled it out and paired it with a long cardigan, layered cashmere tights and a chunky wool sweater. Wella! A summer dress transformed.

Yesterday I met with Monica of Ciao Chessa! again to take photos, have lunch and get caught up. We do the best lunches. If you haven’t been to Eataly… please make a point of checking it out. If you don’t live in New York, now you have a reason to visit! They had the best pizza I’ve tasted, well since I was in Italy. My mouth is watering as I type. So much for the 2011 diet!

My favorite necklace at the moment… a whistle that really works! I’ve been trying to makes songs with it, but have not been successful at it.

OMG… This is the chubbiest squirrel ever. The chubbiest one I’ve seen in real life. It was kind of surreal actually.

Pants are the last thing I usually want to wear, but all I have been wearing is pants lately. I need to so wear a dress soon. Cute outfit! Adore the Betsey Johnson tights. Also, I love the new layout of your blog. :)

Love how you took a summery-dress and made it winter-worthy! And I’m always a fan of mixing gray and camel! As for chubby-squirrel (I have to admit by your title I thought this was an article of clothing that I wasn’t aware of?! lol) I live in the country and have squirrels the size of my dogs…ok, so they’re Yorkies…but that’s still makes for a good-sized squirrel!? =)

You look fabulous as always and how much fun did we have yesterday?! :) and the pizza….mmm! so much for losing the rest of my baby weight. I set aside my irrational fear of squirrels to take this photo! Even I have to admit that he was so cute. Maybe it’s a she and she’s about to pop out some baby squirrels.

I love mixing in my spring/summer staples with winter accessories! Why not mix it up and get use of items throughout the year? Plus I find that my summer skirts or dresses add color to my otherwise neutral winter wardrobe.

You look great here! I love the dress and you did a good job at layering, and that necklace is adorable. And I laughed so hard when I saw the squirrel. And then again when I saw Amy’s comment.

I have a very similar vintage whistle that I picked up on etsy a while back but no chain to go with it, so it sits amongst my perfumes on my vanity…but now i’m jealous, need to hunt for a chain

hahaha, loving all the squirrel talk in the comments :P by the way, the pendant on the necklace, it’s a tad Joan from Mad Men, don’t you think? I don’t know, she is always wearing a similar thing.

Love the the pictures, one of my favourite parts of NY and definitively one of my fave buildings

Agreed. The winter accessories are amazing, it’s my favourite time of the year for fashion. When it’s summer I usually just wear a bikini and shove on a shirt and flip flops to go with, but in the winter season, you can dress up in fur and chunky knits… ahhhh.

Sorry I haven’t visited this blog in a while.

It’s so gorgeous, reminds me of The Fashion Chalet :)

Wow, you’ve got a great photographer there with the best city in the world as your backdrop. Good subject too, you have a glowing smile! I love the grey tights and scarf. Grey is my fave neutral in winter as I really don’t look good in black.

Love the looks….and I have to second the advice about going to Eataly if you are in New York. I do a travel blog as a hobby (I’m a retired newspaper writer) and write about places I think my friends should see. Eataly is right up there. I’m telling everyone I know to pop in….

Love the outfit! I also have a working vintage whistle necklace that I scored on eBay. I’ve even used it to hail a cab! Eataly is the bomb-diggy! I love to take their pastas and sauces home to cook up my own concoctions. You should also check out Food Hall inside of the Plaza if you haven’t already done so. It’s a similar concept to Eataly, and the food is ah-maze!

Hmmmm…. lots to like here… patterned sweater tights, pretty dresses, fuzzy hats and chubby squirrels. I looked out my back window at the end of the autumn and I saw a squirrel that was so fat he could hardly balance on the railing.
