A couple of months ago, I was in the doctor’s office reading the New Yorker. It’s pretty much the only time I read the more classier magazines. You know how it is. One article I read was about how Hollywood went secondhand. I instantly remembered Julia Robert’s vintage Valentino dress she wore to the 2001 Oscars. Cameron Silver, owner of Decades, Inc., said vintage was the ‘democratization of couture’, that if you really wanted to, you could swing the cash to buy Yves Saint Laurent couture if it were vintage, where if it were new, you probably could get a belt for the same price… You don’t even have to live in Hollywood to visit his shoppe, there’s a blog you can check out, to see what’s new… An I Magnin coctail dress (pictured above) or a 1987 YSL liquid gold skirt, is wonderfully transformed into a strapless dress. It’s beautiful.
“We cover a hundred years of fashion, but there is a Decades look,” Silver says. “It’s about vintage that looks modern, sexy, unstudied, and glamorous.”

Decades Two, the sister, focuses more on more recent designer clothing. I’m really glad there’s a blog and an eBay shop, because the prices are pretty reasonable (compared to some consignment shops I’ve been to). Below is a couple of beautiful dresses, a Chanel, and a Stella McCartney.
The Stella McCartney dress is so hot! Hmm…. I can dream can’t I?
