Look at Me is a collection of found photos:
These photos were either lost, forgotten, or thrown away. The images now are nameless, without connection to the people they show, or the photographer who took them. Maybe someone died and a relative threw away their photographs; maybe someone thought they were trash.
When I first started The Coveted, I found Look at Me. No one was reading my blog back then, and I was (and still am) trying to find my voice. Browsing through that site has some images that really stick in my head, even five months later. I have found that looking at real people, how they dressed inspires me on a different level than the styled portraits of that era. Like, how did real people wear their hair, and their clothes? It must have been difficult to maintain a pin curl, or wear a beaded dress to the market. Looking at these photos makes me feel a little voyeuristic of another time. The site hasn’t been updated since February 8th, so if you have found some photos laying around, send them in! It’s a beautiful resource.

That is a gorgeous site - and a nice thing that these “lost” photos have found a home.
oh yes, it’s amazing to look through these. and just changing the medium, from an old shoe box to the internet changes thier quality. it’s really cool.
Oh those are beautiful! I love looking at photos even I don’t know anyone in them. Great find!

I went to an exhibition of found photographs recently and it was fascinating - speculating on the unknown story behind the pictures. Since then, I’ve been on the look out for discarded photos as I’m sure I’ve never seen any but now if I do find any, I’ll know where to post them.
I can’t wait to visit my grandma and scan all her old photos!
wow, great site! thanks for the link!
