Sweet Inspiration

What to do?

Today, napping and watching TV, PBS aired a documentary called Hairworld: The Pursuit of Excellence. It was intense, the dedication of the hairstylist, the artistry and creativity. The only thing was, there is no way in a million years I would let any of them anywhere near my hair. Well, the way I obsess about my hair. In fact, I haven’t cut my hair since December, maybe November? I don’t know… probably around the last time I went on a date. But even in the salons, the hairstyle magazines are filled with high-concept styles, I never see on the street. All the sudden it dawned on me to look to our fabulous streetstyle blogs… to see what great hair looks like in real life. I find the hairstyles to be much more inspiring… much more relaxed and free.

  1. Oh my gosh, tell me about it! The hairstyles featured in magazines are so scary! Overly sleek and unnatural looking. These are great choices.

Also, I tagged you as an RGB. Feel free to keep it going, if you like.

  2. Thank you! I know… I’m going to take one of these to my stylist… probably going to stay with long hair!

    What’s RGB?

  3. i cut my own hair (and my partner’s as well). going to a salon to get my hair styled for a wedding this past saturday reminded me why i continue to do this.

after a turn at hot rollers and styling that made me look matronly, i left the salon disappointed. after dressing, i randomly pinned up my hair and received compliments all evening.

  4. You know what I noticed as a common theme in the majority of these pictures: bangs.
