In the spirit of warming up to San Francisco style… House of Hengst, is one of designer I really enjoy keeping tabs on. Bi-coastal with a warm spirit, Susan Hengst has a studio/shoppe on Valencia Street. She started her career in fashion as a vintage buyer, and learned to sew from her grandmother, you get the sense from browsing through her collection. I stumbled upon her actually… in real life, as I was walking down Valencia street, the clothing caught my eye. Susan happened to be in the shoppe, and we chatted for a bit as I tried on just about every piece in there. The clothes are beautifully made, and really unique. It’s worth the trip down to the Mission…
she has some really nice stuff. you’re lucky to be able to go anytime and try them on!
