Colors exist infinite varieties, and as we talked about last week, colors change in context of their environment. Jayne touched upon this in our conversation by telling me recently she had her colors done by a “Color Me Beautiful” consultant. “It’s changed everything” she said she wouldn’t had believed it if she didn’t see what the consultant did for her best friend. “She had these scarves and draped them across her face, some of the colors just made my friend’s face come alive and she look radiant.”
Colour Me Beautiful is a color system that started in the 80’s, do you remember if you were a Summer or a Winter? I think I’m an Autumn… but I could just be using my fake hair color. Well, the system has evolved since then and apparently it works. Jayne had her color pallet made up to help decide which colors to go with, it’s completely changed the way she shops. It’s a bit easier on your complexion than trying to make yourself look good in nu rave colors. Oh dear. Her consultant gave her a list of colors to match her complexion and coloring, like beige, creme, peach, warm pink, grey, navy, coral, and told her to avoid black. Which I think is great because lately I’ve been noticing people using black as a ’safe’ color, when for most of us, it doesn’t really work. So if you’re having some trouble editing your pallet or choosing what colors to experiment with, perhaps talking to a color consultant could be handy. Or maybe a color savvy friend will do.

I remember that! I’m sure I was Autumn too actually.
Hah! I was just talking about this with my “it’s complicated” boy’s mother. She thinks I’m an autumn, but I think she has her seasons mixed up, and doesn’t realize I’m naturally a blonde
After looking it up, I think I alternate between Summer and Winter, or am stuck somewhere between them.
Believe or not, this really changed things for me as well. I was the boring NYC transplant/former goth chick with the all black wardrobe. Now I love color. A good friend had her analysis done 10 years ago, and then she suggested I do it because I always complimented her on how good she looked and how she used color.
The system now has 3 types within each Season: soft, clear and…I don’t remember the other. But, I do think it’s a great tool for branching out and stepping away from the security blanket of black.
wow, where did you go to get your colors done? i’m intrigued!
Is that picture Raymi?
you know, i think it is… but i’m not sure. hmm…
If you think it is, it must be… I just took a chance on you reading her too and you do!
