One Christmas, I got this crazy idea in my head that if only I had a nice handbag, I would somehow be a better person, or at least appear to be one.
Ask me how a handbag can make you a better person, and I won’t have an honest answer, but somehow Christine Valenti who designs Give handbags has found a way. Give is based out of San Francisco, and a portion of the profits goes to a designated charity. The thing is, Christine doesn’t just tell you…’a charity’ she outlines which one, and how much goes to it. Which is great because there are so many non-profits out there, it’s difficult to determine where exactly you want your money to go.
Last week, Christine invited me to the Give sample sale. There was a great selection of clutches, and beautifully made structured handbags and travel bags. I cracked, and bought this satin handbag with gold chain handle. The interior is lined in suede… it’s super lush, and I really love it.

i am not sure i’ve ever been more jealous of you living in SF! i ADORE the give designs and their business model. a sample sale?! i’ve had my eye on the exact bag you got but in the grey lambskin and nickel hardware since spying it in a boutique in chicago last spring. i LOVE your bag, and that color is going to rock your wardrobe.
OK. The funny thing is that before I read the post from cov. in cambridge I was thinking: “Geez. If only I lived in SF!
But I cannot complain since I make trips out West frequently.
Still, I think it is wonderful that SF has such a community of fun, funky, socially-conscious folks.
I will definitely check out Give. And thanks, Jeannine for sharing Christine’s work with us!
