Humans are always trying to recreate nature. Sometimes taxidermy is creepy, but other times it has an eternal feeling to it, like an ancestral link to a world far away. Julia de Ville of DisceMori designs all sorts of accessories inspired by Momento Mori jewelry of the 15th century. Some of it, I believe is a bit gruesome and brutal. But then again, we live in a world so removed from death. It’s really nice to see that this kind of work, where the pieces of death make life seem all that much more mysterious.
