Having tea with Ivana Ristic

One of the best parts of blogging is meeting up with creative people. Serbian designer, Ivana Ristic came over to my place for a cup of tea, and to show me her new collection. Her poor boyfriend was sitting alone with my cats as the two of us chitchatted about what she was up to here in the states. Ristic, just a few years out of college, has started with a bang, doing costume design for television, and working on selling her new line of clothing. Venus Superstar was the first in San Francisco to carry her clothes, and sold out of them in just a few weeks. Wow… Hopefully it happens again with her new collection which is very playful and intriguing. Personally, I’m in love with the black dress I tried on with the one lace sleeve. Sorry for the fuzzy pics… my little camera wasn’t doing that well that night, or perhaps I need to learn a thing or two about photography.

  2. oh, i should have been more clear… she took the bottom two and the one of me… i couldn’t get a proper picture of her, because i’m so shaky.

but i’m glad you like her work… she’s working on getting more stores carrying her line, but if you’re really interested let me know, and i’ll forward you her information.

  5. this is simply stunning. i agree with thealchemist about the “dreamy” photo quality (being a fan of “dreaminess” and all…), and the draping on the black and white dress is supreme. plus, you’re totally rocking that black dress!

do tell us where we can buy…preferably online… ;)

  7. Boyfriends are meant to be occasionally ignored, like alarm clocks.

What a lovely idea, having a chat and a try-on over tay.

You’ve isolated the primo item there, chica. That black dress is deliriously wonderful.

What works here is that the draping has weight without being heavy. Also, there is good control of volume that does not add girth. It’s hard to do that without having something become the dreaded dumpy.
