The Coveted is One

Today The Coveted is one year old, actually, on the 19th… and for some strange reason I had it in my head as the 20th… there goes my mind. So much has changed in the last year, and most of it is because of this blog. I feel like my life is changing course, and it’s just from a series of tiny actions adding up to a very large event.

It all began from a suggestion to photograph what inspired me, so I went down to Union Square to take photos of people. I had so much fun that day, so decided to start a blog with it. At the time, I had never successfully maintained a project, so it was just a hopeful project. I had been meaning to start a blog, but I didn’t know what or how, or anything… so this was just the beginning.

I’m not so good at street photography, those street style bloggers are amazing… so I incorporated Today’s Attire. And since then, it’s been a labor of love. The only thing keeping me going was the fact that blogging is fun, and I just blogged about what I was passionate about.

Sometimes it seemed like I was shouting into a vacuum, but I kept going, telling myself, “the only person I’m here to please is me.”

For some strange reason ideas never ran out for The Coveted, so just I kept going, it became a daily ritual. Perhaps the ideas came because I practiced a daily ritual, as for the first time I understood the importance of artists drawing every day, writers writing every day… etc. I truly began to love blogging, because it exists in the spirit of practice. I don’t have to write perfect posts every time, mistakes, experiments, all of it can be done without pressure. But mostly what kept me the community that surrounds blogging is very supportive, I hope that never goes away.

So now, a year later, I’m packing all my stuff and moving to Europe, to travel around and see what fashion inspirations are over there. I have a ton of ideas of how to develop this little blog, and even if I get to do one or two, that would be absolutely wonderful. I really couldn’t imagine this happening if I tried really hard. Perhaps in a day dream, but the fact that it’s real, is truly astounding.
