I have arrived. Well, to Germany… yesterday afternoon, we landed. It has been a stressful couple of weeks, dwindling all my possessions to a few suitcases and my bike.
It was hard to part with all of my belongings, but I have to say that it’s a cleansing act… when I think of it, I don’t actually need that much stuff. But then again, I had one entire suitcase dedicated to shoes and handbags. The other suitcase had mostly dresses, sweaters and skirts. I only have a few t-shirts and a few pairs of jeans. The backbone of my wardrobe surrounds mostly girly things.
Now that I’m in Germany, I’m learning that European weather isn’t quite like Los Angeles or San Francisco… this morning it snowed. Rocky and I took a walk in the flurries, being Easter Monday, it’s really quiet out. I realized I had to get warmer clothes, and regretting the fact I didn’t buy a Norwegian sweater. I snagged one of Rocky’s cable knit sweaters and some super thick wool socks, the kind you can’t really wear in California.
It’s nice, I like the changes in weather… I also really like bundling up, it’s a perfect day to snuggle up with a cup of tea.

Wow! You’ve arrived! I feel like i’m there with you but not so much think about paring down my wardrobe to THREE suitcases :O!
where was the above photo taken?
oh no… i wouldn’t do it, if i didn’t have the experience of schlepping all my belongings across the atlantic twice, only to realize that I didn’t really need all that stuff.
ah, so the photo is taken in my new place! it’s really beautiful, and in a quiet neighborhood, so different from where i used to live.
Um, the Germany you’re describing could easily be Toronto. It is still freezing here, though a thaw is approaching. I’m wearing my down-stuffed winter coat, forget about just a sweater, Norwegian or otherwise.
Happy travels, my friend. Good to know that you are safe and sound.
what a great photo.
you look so cozy, a nice cup of tea indeed!
hope you are well!
Did your kitty come with you?

Lovely photo. I hear you about the cozy clothing I spent some time in Istanbul in the dead of winter and loved the fact that I got to wear all my long gloves, thick scarfs and plushy boots — something I never get to do living in California.
You look adorable but pooped out!
I’m so glad to see you arrived in style! Post more pics of the pad if you can. And thank you for keeping all of us lonely left-behinds in SF in the loop of your travels. We’ll expect a full report on your town and all of the shopping options therein. Write when you can
Big hugs from Aidan
Wow, it seems like only a week ago you said you were moving! I hope you are very happy in your new home!
I love this photo of you all cozied up in that sweater and adorable knee highs! Glad you made it safely to Germany! xoxo
It is lovely to snuggled up indoors…German weather sounds like the London at the moment…
glad you had a safe trip, its pretty cold here in the northeast as well.
welcome to germany!
living in a town 30 kilometres from frankfurt i know the weather and leaving my boyfriend’s house this morning wearing the outfit of the party i visited yesterday (basically leggins and a dress), i really longed for spring.
have a good time settling in!

Yay, glad you arrived safely.
I still pass by your desk and look for you!): But it’s good to see that you’re well. You look warm, stylish, you look comfortable… Love the photo! anxious to see more. Tell us about the weather, how the fashion there compares to that of SFO. Keep those visuals coming…. After you get some rest.
Love,
Leo

Hey, welcome

what did you do here?
i´m sorry if you told, i´m new at your blog…
but i like it!!!
I’m glad you arrived safely. You look “at home”.
Jennine, Congrats! indeed you have arrived girl! lol
you look great in this pic! i am coveting the thick woolly sox and tights….we are heading into Winter here downunder, (although, lately it has felt more like summer!)
anyway, have fun and enjoy your tea, the winter woollies and everything else that comes your way!
Two suitcases, indeed. Congratulations!
No matter how often we do it, moving is never easy. Two seasons ago, I moved under duress while I was trying to finish a graduate degree. Now after two years of stability, I am contemplating another move.
This urge to change locals, to adopt a new, pared-down lifestyle is feeling contagious to me. Hmm … I wonder how many others are thinking of moving?
Where does this desire for a new landscape come from?
… and what will I do with my cats? (Mom says she’ll take them, but still …)
Glad you’re safe and sound. Lovely pix, and I love that oil painting above you!
oh my gosh! thank you for all your lovely comments!
as far as my kitties, i had to leave them behind for a time because there are two people who are allergic in my new house. hopefully, in a few months i can get a place where i can have them back, because after two days i miss them terribly.
but it’s really nice to be here in germany!
Welcome to Europe! Get warm!
LOVE the outfit and am so happy for/jealous of you! Enjoy this new adventure!
congrats on your new life! I know San Fran misses you!
“they” say, that the weather will get better - starting today!
Dear Jennine: this is a big move changing countries but you can pull it off if anyone can. Hang in there kid.
With Love, your grand dad, Ralph
