Mother Nature may be cruel, but she’s a wicked designer. Design duo Nervous System (MIT Grads, Jessica Rosenkrantz and Jesse Louis-Rosenberg) makes lovely jewelery inspired by the algorithms of nature, they formulate and idea, then create a pattern generating algorithm in the computer. In the end, thy are able to manufacture these beautiful silicone forms resembling radiolarians, plant cells and even the familiar honey comb. Radiolarians? Plant cells? Ok, ok, it’s all microscopic and sciencey… and it’s beautiful

That necklace is so beautiful! I don’t wear very much jewelery, but if I had to money I definitely wouldn’t mind sporting one of these.
I’ve been in love with Nervous Systems for so long now! A classmate sent me the link (during our Fund Development class, heh), and it’s been a favorite ever since.
And I’m especially loving that purple top the model is wearing, too. Yum!
wow they’re gorgeous!!!

I’m actually allergic to metals, so the only jewelery I wear is brooches-and theirs are beautiful! Thanks for the tip! Now, how cheeky would it be to email the link to everyone I know, with my birthday just around the corner? Hee hee.
Absolutely gorgeous! I wouldn’t mind spending loads of money one those! Or two! hah!
Those. Are. Amazing.
I’m going there right now!
Luv!

damn, this is sure making the rounds lately.
i remember reading about this in my local weeklies. being an engineer, i was waaay intrigued! good catch.
love that you profiled them! i used to live a couple blocks from them in Cambridge back when they were still living in MA and doing business on etsy. they are growing by leaps and bounds. i got the dendrite earrings for valentine’s day from my boy and i love them to bits!
Nice! Such unique looking jewellry with interesting origins. I’ve heard of others doing something similar as well with furniture, but sadly their name escapes me atm
Saw these in Surface mag and it was instant love…
Lovely, airy designs. And well-priced!
WOW!
