Ironing sucks. It’s for chumps, it’s for anal retentive people who have an organized closet. It’s for people who have jobs and pay their bills. People who like to save money by not taking their clothes to the cleaners, and appear clean and crisp.
Some people say there is some kind of meditative thing about ironing, but I just don’t get it. It’s usually some kind of panic process… is it too hot? Where is the steam? How come now I’ve managed to iron even worse wrinkles, you know the creases that will never iron out.
Most of the time, my solution is to ignore the wrinkles. Hope that eventually, they’ll magically un-wrinkle, maybe even make it part of my crumpled personality. There’s no beauty in perfection, and honestly, I’m just too damn lazy to bother with wrinkles.
But enough of this ode to iron avoidance… I have a few pieces that even met with the face of an iron will wrinkle up in any slight movement, so I just leave them, and the more crumpled the better. Like this embroidered tunic and tiered silk skirt. They are both perfect for the hot humid weather we’ve been having lately… too hot for a wide belt, but the belt holds the outfit together, from looking to much like two potato sacks layered together.
I may be lazy, but I ain’t no potato.
Happy Friday..

I AM anal retentive and have an organzied closet. But, still, many many wrinkles.
My theory is, it’s just going to get wrinkled when you sit down so why worry about it before hand.
I have also been a potato. But that was many years ago.

My mom still irons for me occasionally….. I think I may be searching for a tunic like that for the rest of my life!
Really like the colour of the skirt and the way you put together with those pale coloured shoes. Very feminine. I do have a soft spot for that colour must admit. ^^
a chump? anal retentive? hmmm, some things just look better ironed, even tho they do end up getting normal wear wrinkles (which are different than a totally unironed garment). Anyway, you’re outfit is very cute and I don’t think you meant to criticize any of your readers, so…..
um, it was meant to be a statical piece, i guess that was lost somehow.
heh, guess i am a chump! (in more ways than one, most likely!)
i am an avid ironer…i iron everything (even jeans and tees, if they need it). i’m organized too (closet is color and type sorted).
wrinkles (on me, on others) drive me up a wall, it’s like the equivalent of nails down a chalkboard. literally makes me cringe. it’s a personality difference i guess! some people don’t mind them, but i think they just make a person look disheveled and unkempt, like they don’t care about their clothes or details.
i blame my dad…he taught me to iron properly at 11. also, being a sewer for 20 + years, ironing properly has been drilled into me. old habits never die!
It’s not the wrinkles on my clothes I worry about these days.
haha, tricia… i am disheveled and unkempt!
Oh Ms. Jennine! You are looking great, despite your poverty
We all miss you in SF, and hope there may be a reason to come out for a fashion event here sometime? I love that color purple, and I love it on you. (ps - I NEVER iron - if I must, I’ll stick something in the dryer for 10 minutes, but mostly I just wear synthetics that don’t wrinkle)
Great outfit! It looks put together. And it flatters your figure so well.
I really like the shirt, but i think it would look better with a light jeans.
I have to agree, most of my ironing is done on the floor, moments before I have to leave in total desperation. It’s just not something I plan for! Do they have Downy Wrinkle Releaser where you live? It’s saved my life a couple of times. But then again, if you’re this capable of making wrinkles a gorgeous part of your outfit, you probably don’t need it!
Also, the commenter above who somehow missed the cheekiness of your opening line is making me giggle!
I don’t care what you said in the last post, you look REALLY THIN!!!
i like!! the belt makes the outfit look very kimono esque and the sleeves so batwing like =)

I agree! Ironing is for chumps! Or sewers… Still, I hate clothes with wrinkles that you know are not meant to be there. They don’t drape right on the body, and they look like they came from your floor (not your closet).
If you’re not sewing your seams flat, then there’s really no reason to iron. Take a cue from your favorite boutique and buy a professional steamer. I have one from Jiffy Steamer (http://www.jiffysteamer.com/) and it is a life (and marriage) saver! It takes a minute to heat up, 3 to steam the dress, and has no risk of burning or ironing in more wrinkles~ worth the money everyday.
oooh i soo want one of those steamers! they are just so expensive here in germany… but once i get the cash, i’m getting one of those bad boys.
me rikey a rot!
Awesome layers here, definitely bold.
