Beauty Profile: Natural Luxury of Living Nature

by Sonja on December 19, 2008

If you know anything about eco-friendly beauty products, then you’re probably familiar with Dr. Hauschka and Jane Iredale. But if you live in the U.S., you’ve probably never heard of Living Nature. This line of truly natural, high-end skincare and cosmetics is headed our way – and you should definitely take note. Living Nature is one of the loveliest, most luxurious lines I have ever tried. I’m not simply comparing it to other eco-beauty lines. I’m talking ALL brands – from Hauschka and Iredale to Chanel and Dior. I just tried several Living Nature products and was blown away by each and every one of them.

A New Zealand Treasure

Living Nature products are truly natural, elegant, perform exceptionally well, and are wonderful for the skin. Living Nature is one of the world’s first companies to produce skincare without synthetic preservatives and parabens. They are based in New Zealand, where they make their products with many plants that are found nowhere else in the world. In fact, more than 80% of New Zealand’s plants can only be found there.

Living Nature is passionate about using potent natural ingredients and being environmentally responsible. For example, key ingredient Totarol is extracted from the wood of the Totara tree, one of the giants of the New Zealand forest. No trees are felled to harvest this ingredient. Instead they get the raw material from old fence posts and wharf pilings, because the wood is very resistant to decay. They use no solvents for extraction. The extract is a far stronger antioxidant than Vitamin E, because the wood has an amazing natural resistance to bacterial attack and oxidative degradation.

They make a long list of promises to customers:

  • No Synthetic Preservatives
  • No Ingredients We Consider Potentially Harmful
  • No Mineral Oils
  • No Irradiated Ingredients
  • No Herbicide or Pesticide Residues
  • No Genetically Modified Ingredients
  • No Animal Ingredients
  • No Animal Testing
  • Always Use High Quantities of Bioactive Ingredients
  • Only Use Recyclable, Reusable, Reduced Packaging

Skincare

Their skincare is a joy to behold. Not only it is it natural and eco-friendly, it delightful to use, highly effective, and truly beautifying. The Vitalising Cleanser thoroughly cleanses my skin and hydrates at the same time. The Nourishing Day Cream leaves my skin perfectly soft and smooth, and protects it from free radical damage with Totarol. Their Radiance Night Oil is heaven in a bottle. It contains balancing and healing oils from calendula, jojoba, rose petals, and frankincense. The products also lift my spirits with the natural fragrance that comes from blends of essential oils, like lemon myrtle and lavender.

Cosmetics

Their cosmetics are just as wonderful as their skincare. The foundation, a winner of the best natural foundation in the 2008 UK Natural Health Beauty Awards, is lightweight and provided just enough coverage to make my skin look nearly perfect, without making me look made up. Their pressed powder is made with natural minerals and has the loveliest, sheer texture that subtly reflects light. It also contains Manuka oil, which is antibacterial. Their bronzer is one of the prettiest I’ve ever tried. It gives me a very natural looking, sun kissed glow. Both the pressed powder and bronzer come in gorgeous, elegant, black compacts that are refillable. And their lipsticks are blissfully creamy and moisturizing.

Availability

Living Nature products will not be in stores in the U.S. until later in 2009. In the meantime, you can buy them on the Living Nature website and through other online retailers, like Amazon.com. They are also in shops in Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia.

Now is the Time

Now is the perfect time to try Living Nature products. They have an impressive selection of beautiful gift sets and many fantastic specials. For a limited time, you can get free bonus products with the purchase of selected items.

Ok,

I’ve never tried the line of products that you are talking about, but……

If you have ever tried Eco Botanica’s products by Guru Darshan, made in New Mexico, I think you may also be very impressed. Guru Darshan is an Ayurvedic Master at formulation and all I can say is that she’s got somthing going on beyond the beyond.(Her team also chants during manufacturing their products and once people use her products, it’s rare they go anywhere else.

Check it out if you can.
