Happy & Hunky

by jennine on December 23, 2008

Normally at this time, I’m either on the long drive between San Francisco and the Inland Emprire (just east of LA) to see my mom… or I’m “finishing up” my shopping at Target. But since I’m in Germany, spending the first holiday with my boyfriend’s family, it’s a bit of a different experience. Putting real candels in the Christmas tree, which I hear we’re going to light with real fire.. a big no-no in over-cautious California, but I hear it’s really nice.

Kezia reminded me what I was missing when she sent along this little snippet of Christmas in LA…

“Happy holidays, lovelies! I’ve been a bit anti-Xmas this year…So it’s a good thing that I discovered Hunky Santa — the L.A. version of Kris Kringle — ripped, with abs of steel. Hunky wears red velvet pants, black shiny boots, a red velvet hat and a fur-trimmed sleeveless vest. I’m not usually an admirer of the toned-n-tanned, oiled-up look, but this Hot Claus puts a smile on my grinchy mug.

Hunky Santa appears after 5 p.m. at the Beverly Center now through Christmas Eve. Now big kids can reveal their Christmas wishes while perched atop Hunky’s lap. For his part, Hunky dispenses healthy living tips (egg nog=bad; whey protein powder=good). Oh, Hunky — how ’bout I just tell you how naughty I’ve been?”

Hehe, all the Christmases I’ve spent in Southern California, and the year I move away is when Hunky Santa comes to town.

But before I go…. and on a less naughty note, if you’re still out there looking for gifts (like I would be, if it were possible to procrastinate any further) TOMS has been running a great charity project to donate 30,000 pairs of shoes to people in Ethiopia, this is to prevent a diesease transmitted from the soil which could be prevented by wearing shoes. For each pair of shoe sold to you, they will donate a pair to someone in Ethiopia gets a pair of shoes. TOMS Shoes are sold internationally, so check the store locator for details… in San Fran they are being sold in American Rag, Eco Citizen and Azalea and several more boutiques.

We’re going to be taking a break for the week here at The Coveted so the posting will slow down, but all three of us Kezia, Sonja and me, Jennine wish you the very best holiday!!!

i think hunky santa should not speak AT ALL, and esp. not about whey protein.

that’s great what tom’s is doing. i know they are a very charitable company in general though. though i personally wouldnt wear their shoes (not to my tastes), i do think the basic toms look nice on men.
