My Year of Beauty

Every year I try tons of beauty products and learn as many new beauty tips and tricks as will fit in my brain. I simply cannot help myself. I must learn about what’s new in the world of beauty. I must try the new colors, test the new formulations, sniff the new scents, and slather on as many fabulous lotions and potions as I can, that is, until I start having an allergic reaction from trying too many things. But hey, I’m happy to “suffer” here and there, because beauty goodies give me a thrill. I love the glamour packed into a luxurious powder compact, the exhilaration of a refreshing scent, the nurturing of a satiny skin cream… I love it all.

This year has been an especially good year of beauty for me, since I got the opportunity to write about beauty here on The Coveted. I’ve had so much fun sharing my experiences as I’ve tried new treats, and in hearing back from the lovely Coveted readers. I hope that you’ve enjoyed my posts and have learned some interesting things along the way.

Best of 2008

As 2008 comes to a close and we take a look back and reflect, I’ve been thinking about the best products I discovered this year. There were so many delights. Here are some that I now turn to again and again for a beauty boost (in no particular order, because that would be just too hard).

Living Nature. I learned and wrote about this cosmetics and skin care line just recently. I consider this to be the Chanel of natural beauty products. Everything is so elegant, truly natural, and impressively effective. I especially love their superchic powder compacts and amazingly flattering bronzer.
International Orange. I had my first facial at IO this year. It was the best facial I’ve ever had, which is no small feat, because I’ve had many over the years.
100% Pure. I wrote about their lovely Peach Pigmented Brightening Concealer in my article about under eye circles. I tried more of their products and am now head over heels for the entire line, which I’ll be writing about more in January.
Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate and Argan Oil. My skin is just radiant from using Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate, which contains lots of argan oil. I also began using pure argan oil all the time on my scalp and nails.
Kabuki Communal Baths. OK, this is an exception. I discovered this years ago. But it’s the best, most affordable spa indulgence I’ve ever found. I wrote about it in my last-minute gifts article. More about the beauty of baths to come in January.
IT Cosmetics Reversible Liner. This came in the My Naughty Mouth kit that I wrote about; but it can be purchased on its own. I found this to be a great lip moisturizer to use before applying lipstick. It seals in moisture and is light enough to not interfere with lip color.
Marie Veronique Crème du Jour. I began using this marvelous multitasker this year. It’s the best face moisturizer/sunscreen I’ve ever used. And I just love that it’s totally natural and gentle enough to use around the eyes.
Jane Iredale Powder-Me SPF. This was the first product I wrote about on The Coveted. I’m hooked on this very natural-looking powder that protects my skin from the sun and comes in a super-convenient bottle with built-in powder puff.

How about you? What did you fall in love with this year?

The Year Ahead

I’ve been trying many more gorgeous goods and have many more articles in the works. Here’s a preview of just a few of the topics I will be writing about in 2009: winter skin and hair care, the perfect nude lip and the perfect red lip, roses in skincare, beautifying teas, and, of course, beauty that fits in your budget.

I’ve also just put together a Beauty Resources page, where I’ll be posting fabulous deals on beauty products and services, and more. There are a few deals posted now. I’ll be posting lots more. I hope it becomes a useful resource for you.

Happy New Year!

Thanks so much for checking out my posts! I hope you’ve had a great year and that your year ahead is filled with beauty. See you in 2009!

Thank you for all that you do - was wondering if you had a suggestion for an in shower body lotion (I live in MN). I use the one by Olay but was hoping for a more natural option. I have tried lush’s, but it only lasted about 10 days and the price point was too high for that short of a life span! Thank you again and have a great New Years!

❤ Thanks, everyone, for reading my post and writing. It’s so nice to hear from you. Happy Happy New Year!
❤ Frankie, I just discovered Liz Earle recently. I’m loving her stuff!
❤ Anna, I agree that Lush has fabulous products. They seem to be opening more and more shops in the U.S. Hooray!
❤ Thanks, Gail! I’m so glad you’re enjoying my posts. Be sure to check out the Beauty Resources page now. I just added a TON of new deals. There are so many post-holiday sales and deals. I LOVE this time of year! heehee!
❤ Thank you, Vintage_mck! I haven’t found any eco-friendly in-shower body lotions. But I will definitely keep an eye out for one. I was just in St. Louis. My skin got sooooo dry. But it was good insight for my upcoming articles on winter skin care. ;)
❤ Princess Poochie, I should be posting that soon. I just adore skin care made with REAL roses and rose oil — no blechy synthetic stuff. I’ve found some really great goodies and can’t wait to share. :)
