Gold and Grey

by jennine on January 23, 2009

Just like yellow and grey pair up nicely, so does gold and grey.

When it’s cold and grey on the outside, I’ll be wearing gold and grey on the inside. Flecks of gold are my rebellion against the dreary winter weather.  A few weeks ago, I wrote about gold, wearing more gold, loving gold, longing for it… you get the drift. I’ve always been a fan of the color. At the flea market, I found this sparkly gold sweater which was crying to be worn as a dress.

While gold has a reputation for being gaudy… I really don’t think that it has to be, nor do I think it should only be brought out for parties. Personally, I’d wear a gold dress in the day, if it’s toned down just right. Just like yellow and grey pair up nicely, so does gold and grey. Grey will tone down any gaudiness and gold will brighten up grey’s boring tendencies (even though I absolutely love grey). And of course, I’m all about casual red lipstick... to add a bit of color to the whole ensemble.

I love this outfit! It sucks that the weather is still so bleary but at least it’s milder than it was a month ago! Might I ask which flea market you frequent? :)

A truly fabulous ensemble, and a combination I never would’ve thought of as someone who doesn’t gravitate towards gold. The red lips are the perfect finishing touch.

Gorgeous! I’ve been really into grey lately, as well. A few months ago, I have NOTHING grey in my closet; & now it’s clearly dominating everything else. :]

aside from your ensemble (which is lovely), your hair has really really grown! And you’ve inspired me to purchase a tube of red lipstick this weekend. I have large lips and I’ve always worn neutrals (like brown) and stayed away from reds and pinks. But hey, I figure…what the hell.

❤ shelley… red is the oldest color in my lipstick drawer!
❤ apricot… grey has a funny way of doing that. i go through spurts, but i think it’s more suited to my skin tone than black, which can be harsh sometimes.
❤ ginger…oh that’s awesome, i’m sure the red will be amazing on you! full red lips are the best. i wish mine were fuller.

I definitely veer to the darker colors when it’s cold & nasty outside. I don’t think I manage to look as nearly as fabulous as you in this grey & yellow.

Btw, the typepad link has been taken by someone else-I’m at http://into-thefray.com/blog now. FYI!
