Rufflelust

by jennine on February 18, 2009

New York is an amazing city. I’ll try not to insert more obvious statements here…. Everything that us mortals have in our hometowns, in New York there is multitudes of it. The other day, I stopped into DSW in Brooklyn of all places, and picked up a pair of $300 Stuart Weitzman’s for $40. Then yesterday, Jordana from Clutch22 and I went to Century 21 and tried on at least everything they had in the store almost. Ok, not that much… but I was pretty amazed by the selection. I’ve never seen Viktor and Rolf aside from the H&M stuff in real life, but at the V&R section at Century21 I totally flipped my lid. Their pieces are perfect for me. Take for instance, this neck ruffle vest with lace pockets. Swoon. If I had an extra $800 laying around to spend on a vest, this piece would be mine. In fact I walked away dreaming about the day when I could own this lovely vest. I’d probably ask to be buried in it.

So in lack of serious funds… I did spot this Calvin Klein blazer that was marked down to $30. That I can manage. It’s a little too big, but for some reason it works out alright, I love the drapeyness of it, and wore it to the Digital Moda event along with some other drapey, wrinkled up pieces I have stuffed in my suitcase.

Things have been great here. I’m sorry for not posting as much. The other night we has the Dress Up party which was an amazing success, I was so happy to see everyone. We’re just waiting for the rest of the photos to come in, and I’ll show you the details.

The cut of that blazer is awesome, I love it. And sometimes just being around fancy clothes is satisfying in itself. I’m definitely guilty of trying on things I can’t afford, just for fun.

They should just call NY the town of shopping. When I lived there and I was short of funds, I would simply stay home to avoid all the temptation. So glad you’re having such a great time. LOVE that shot of you in your new Calvin Klein blazer.

I totally spotted you on the subway yesterday, Jennine! I am in nyc right now for a conference and thought about coming to the dress up party but couldn’t swing it. Anyway, I was on the train heading to Brooklyn (where I am staying with friends) after going to Century 21. haha! I would have said hi if I had spotted you before you were exiting. I think was in a shop coma.

Aww, Jennine, I love you! :D I’ve never seen real Viktor & Rolf either! I get so excited just from laying eyes on a pretty designer piece that is right in front of me!
I’ve never been to New York, but someday, I want to. <3 LOVE THAT BLAZER, by the way!

Who wouldn’t want to be buried in Viktor & Rolf? (Or marry Viktor if he wasn’t gay…) Looks like you had a lot of fun! Congratulations on your amazing blazer, too!
