There are certain things I love about shopping in America, it mostly revolves around knowing where to find great deals, or maybe just happening upon great deals. On my last trip to NYC, I wandered into a totally random DSW, and random, let’s narrow it down to the Atlantic Avenue DSW in Brooklyn. Why I was there? Oh yeah, they have a Target there too… And yes, the economy is making these crazy sales, but I wasn’t prepared to find a pair of gorgeous Steuart Weitzman shoe booties for $45 marked down from $291, which was marked down from the original price, I have no idea what…
Now, I’ve heard about people saying ‘you shouldn’t buy something because it’s on sale’. Mostly they say it to me while I pretend I’m not listening, or I’m pretending I’m listening but I’m actually preoccupied with shoes. And yeah, these are not the times for gratuitous shopping, buuuut… see this skirt? If you’re a regular, you’ll know that I wear this damn skirt like, every week (sorry, I have other skirts, I just don’t wear them)… since a couple of weeks before I started this blog. Well, it’s by Walter, and made with the loveliest floaty silk. I found it in the dressing room at Loehman’s underneath a clothing rack (why I was there, don’t ask, just believe it) it was marked down to $14, I wasn’t sure that I would wear it because it’s slightly too big, but I live in this thing and getting sick of it? Well, not this season.
Lace bolero, thrifted ($5) ❤ Organic long sleeve tee ($9) ❤ Sheer tank, thirfted ($1) ❤ damn Walter silk skirt ($14) ❤ Tights, fleamarket-deadstock ($1) ❤ Stuart Weitzman shoe boots $45 ❤ Like my curtsy?

Ah, love this post. I totally know how it feels when people are telling you, “Don’t buy it just because it’s on sale!” But sales and clearance racks are a total weakness for me. Some of my best pieces were so cheap I couldn’t resist
xo, Kate
Absolutely freakin’ fabulous!
I am gonna get skinny again… I am gonna get skinny again… I am gonna get skinny again!
You just got me back on my diet. I have to “dress” again! Especially with deals like that!
Thanks!
LC
I totally agree about ignoring people who say to buy things just because they’re on sale. My mom is the biggest sale shopper and I’ve totally inherited it. I can’t remember the last time I bought something for regular price. If you buy on sale, you can buy twice (or more) as much stuff! But I’m also super picky and only buy sale items I love, so I know I’ll wear them.
You look amazing and I’m seriously envying your shoe-fu.
You look so luminous in these pictures! Especially the last one, where I LOVE LOVE LOVE your curtsy. You’re too cute.
Had I come across those Weitzman brogues, I would have snatched them up, too. They’re gorgeous!
love the little black lace bolero!
Great shoe find. I love how you’ve mixed textures and neutrals in this outfit.
You always do layering so well, it’s something I’ve never hit the hang of but you inspire me to keep trying!
It always feels great to find a bargain, that’s why I live trawling thrift shops and boot fairs so much.
❤ kate… i feel you, it’s a strange psychology, i have a harder time buying something full price…
❤ leslie, you are too kind, i don’t think most people think ‘skinny’ when they see me… but i know what you mean, i have developed issues with trying clothes on because of my weight, like i hate the dressing room, because i’m afraid it will tell me i need to lose 10 more pounds. crazy huh?
❤ amika…aw, thanks… shoe-fu i’ve never heard that before!
❤ ashe…oh it’s the lighting… we had some amazign flashes for the shoot
maegan..oh thank you! it was one of those pieces i should wear more often
❤ lisa, thank you,very lucky
❤ retro, you do well with layering, i have seen a few great examples!
Ah that little lace bolero is the sweetest!
That is so true, and sometimes we spend a fortune on something we needed, and its practical and its NEVER worn!
hey! I found your blog from tfs. cool blog, seriously!
and OMG you bought that Stuart Weitzman booties for $45?!! that’s a steal!! I’m so jealous!!
Lace totally works for you x
That’s what I talking about! Beautiful outfit and amazing prices. I wish I knew how to take pictures as beautiful as you so that I could share my vintage finds. You look amazing as always:)
those are perfect for you and your wardrobe. nice! as in really nice and i want! i miss ny for the shopping like that.
Adorable photos and what a deal on the skirt! and shoes!
I have usually been lucky, what i buy on sales last long. Seriously.
you did awesome with those boots.
i like to think im pretty good at getting the best quality at the best price. ebay and loehmann’s are very good places to look.
I miss America so much for that reason. Sales are nonexistent in Italy, except for January, when I was barely around and broke anyways. Those booties are such a great steal!
You always put the greatest looks together by mixing and layering. Love love love!
Also, your first pic kinda reminds me of Famke Jannsen - have you heard that before: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3857684224/nm0000463
Finally, those shoes were such a great find!
Say hello to Chicago
Love you much
