Clothes always have a dynamic quality, no matter if the designer intended it or not…. Some designers make clothes so they must be custom fitted in order to look good, some designers have the intention of individual experiment. Jennifer Gilpin is of the latter. Most pieces in her collection have infinite possibilities with how you can style them, ok, maybe not the jackets… but a transparent dress with a built-in circle scarf, a top/jacket with draping that can either be worn in front or around the neck (shown to the left, and bottom). Clothes that call for ‘playfulness’, ‘thinking out of the box’, ‘creating your own style’ I would imagine, raise your IQ points, I mean, it would encourge brain activity more than rolling out of bed and into a tee shirt. I’m sure there is scientific proof somewhere… you know because scientist are so intersted in the effects of fashion on the brain.
The lovely Ms. Gilpin originally from Canada, and used to work in neigboring studio to Complex Geometries now lives in Berlin, she’s started a new line with a new partner called Garter & Asp. These pieces are all at Voll Toll on Mulackstrasse in Berlin (it’s a small street).

I’m almost certain Jennifer had another label while she was in Canada - and it was gorgeous. Great news that she’s back at it!
yes! it was Jennifer Ann Gilpin, which is what most of the clothes i’m wearing hear is designed under.. though the leather jacket is from the new label…
The clothes are simply amazing. Plus, I’m kind of obsessed with your hair in these.
I love pieces that encourage individual creativity!
Very cool clothes! And you look gorgeous in these shots!
Have you noticed how many Canadian designers (spec. Montreal) design in this fluid, choose your own adventure style? Great photos, J.
Yes! I have noticed! There is something going on up there! Maybe Candaian fashion will be the new Canadian comedy.
We can hope!
Love her pieces, “playfulness” is a great description. And by the way, how hot are you in these pictures!
I do so love clothing that lets you play with its shape. I love that more designers are realising we want to be able to customise our look beyond just buying interesting pieces! That jacket is stunning!
I *love* those sheer, floaty sleeves.
& you look fab, as always!
Ooh, look at the draping! I swear, show me anything black/white/gray with draping and clean, sharp lines and I’m hooked.
That leather jacket is *perfect*
except that she left canada to keep doing what she does. which is what happens so often in canada for so many industries. i actually came here to say how cute you look! and the clothes are lovely. so adult & femme. i need to grow up…
her draping execution is amazing… so much structure while keeping the soft lines. love!
