hot pink vintage

Where have all the colors gone? These days, recession chic means practical clothing choices that go with everything. Often times that means neutral colors, neutrals, non-colors, muted palettes.  Which I love. But at the same time, colors make you look lovely. Little dots of joy and on beautiful summer days. One of my favorite bold colors to wear, besides red, is hot pink. With my coloring, I really can’t do a soft pink… I mean I can, but it’s not the best color for me.. Lately I’ve been noticing on my laundry drying rack, black grey, and pink for the past few weeks…

Here I’m mixing hot pink with another of my favorites (my favorite skirt) beige. You can’t really tell how the vibrancy of the pink in the photos, but it’s a nice vibrant pink.  I think it gives the a really nice balance between bold and subtle. Actually, this is just an excuse to show you this lovely top… some of you fabric people.. can you tell me what kind of top this is? Crochet? Embroidered? [UPDATE: Cut Embroidery thanks Wendygital! Lace? Either way, it’s from the flea market, and it’s absolutely perfect for summer.

I’m loving so much these two colors together and they look great on you!
The detail on the blouse is so pretty!
Janine, the technique used for it is called ‘Cutwork Embroidery’.

I too love soft, subtle colors, but you’re right: there is nothing better than a pop of color! :) You look so perfectly summery!

I want to say that the top’s detailing looks like macramé, but as Wendygital suggests, cutwork embroidery is more accurate. Nonetheless it is beautiful!

I’m a hot pink kind of gal myself, but I usually do it with lots of black. Love the look with beige, and these are some truly stunning photos, lady!

Oh, Jennine, I’ve just noticed that I misspelled your name, I’m so sorry!
(Of course, I’ve seen it a zillion times, but sometimes my mind plays these tricks on me when I’m writing LOTS of things, all at the same time…) :-(
Hope those links were useful to you!

Lovely!! Hot pink is a favorite of mine as well, along with black and white. Gorgeous picture of yourself and the wheat closeup is awesome.

Oh my, the close up of your pink top is gorgeous! And that skirt looks lovely. I always break out my more colourful outfits for rainy days or summer (…so pretty much all year round here in London!).

The top is made in what used to be known as “richelieu embroidery” or cut-out embroidery technique.
regarding the colors. last time I was at Pret A Porter Paris almost all independent designers (including me) opted for safe black/charcoal non-colors..It wasn’t a good sign.
I agree that colors bring the joy for life, and once we’ll see on the catwalks colors again it will be a sign of economical healing..
My guess is that for summer main colors will be beige, white… safe & neutral..
I will go for greige..
