Win Free Magazines for a Year!

Post image for Win Free Magazines for a Year!

(here I am indulging in trashy gossip mags)

For the longest time, I considered myself a magazine junkie. And, I still enjoy reading magazines in the evening while the TV is playing in the background. It brings me back to a simpler time, and it’s nice to just… read.. something I rarely do when I’m working on the internet and finding myself working on 5 things at the same time: answering emails, writing posts, twittering, reading blogs, looking at kittens. I guess doing two things is downright relaxing!

We all know that the print business is undergoing some changes… and this isn’t going to be a post about that, because I can talk about it for ages. What this post is about, is the publishers are keying into custom subscription services like Maghound where you can pay a monthly fee (plans start at $4.95/month for three magazines) and select which magazines you want. Unlike regular subscriptions, you can swap out whenever you want, like tired of Elle? Go for Nylon? Or Real Living? Cat Fancy?

How to Enter:

Visit and tell me which 3 magazines you would like to subscribe to by Friday, September 4th, the Winners will be announced on September 8th. Winners will actually subscribe with the account set up for them upon winning. The 3 magazines you choose (or suggest) now are just for entry purposes…

Second Chance to enter…

Personally, I noticed a few magazines they could add to their fashion and style… which magazines would you be interested in subscribing to that aren’t listed in Maghound? I’ll take that as an entry too!

Third Chance to enter…

Follow me on Twitter and ReTweet (RT) the following message:

RT @thecoveted I want to win a FREE one year subscription to Maghound Magazine Membership Service!

P.S.S. I totally stole this pose from Mademoiselle Robot… I hope she doesn’t mind

Sounds like a cool service! I would pick Instyle, Nylon and Elle.

I wish they offered more international magazines or my mom’s favourite magazine, Cowboys and Indians.

I will retweet!

6 Angie Newbury September 2, 2009 at 8:53 am

My 3 would be: 1. Nylon, 2. InStyle and 3. Travel & Leisure.
Thank you Jennine, for the opportunity :)

7 Angie Newbury September 2, 2009 at 8:54 am

I noticed that they don’t have Spin magazine or Rolling Stone magazine listed. *frowny face*

8 gail September 2, 2009 at 8:56 am

oooh, are you going to get your old kitties back?

9 tina September 2, 2009 at 9:05 am

I went on a mag diet over a year ago and purposely did not renew ANY of the numerous subscriptions I held… even vogue! partly for economical reasons, and partly recycling reasons… Now they’ve all run out and I thumb through them at the grocery store lost in the pretty glossy pages like a former junkie. of the ones they currently offer my top 3 would be Marie Claire (Nina Garcia moved there from Elle), Real Simple and ReadyMade. My wish list would be British Vogue, British Glamour and British anything else!

but if I could have chosen any magazine, I would have been for teen vogue..

11 Mary P. September 2, 2009 at 9:09 am

Real Simple, Nylon and ReadyMade.

But I would really like to also see Bust, Vogue and Harpers Bazaar on there too.

Thanks for this contest! I had never heard of Maghound.

i was very sorry not see W magazine…. this is by far my favorite one. I also missed Paper on the list….. but from what they have i would mos def take Nylon and Elle.

14 Ashe Mischief September 2, 2009 at 9:47 am

Are you even wearing pants?!? Scandalous! (ie Sessy)

I’d subscribe to: In Style (which I’ve been reading for probably half my life), Nylon (since they gypped me from my free subscription from UO & only give it to me electronically now. lame.), and Ready Made! Or maybe Cat Fancy…. with me you can never tell, can you?? ;)

I’d love to get Nylon, Glamour and Elle - American magazines are so hard to get over here! Shame there’s no Vogue or Pop though.

20 Jeanne September 2, 2009 at 11:48 am

I would subscribe to Nylon (I used to, once, but let it lapse!), Real Simple, and Elle. (I’d also pick ReadyMade, but I think my old roommate never switched over her subscription to her new address — lucky me!)

Alas, I don’t see Lucky, V (another subscription I let lapse), or Vogue!

What a cool concept to subscribe monthly! I think my 3 picks would be ReadyMade, Nylon and Eating Well. I’m kinda disappointed they don’t have a better selection of automotive magazines; a good, import or hot rod magazine available for the subscription service would be awesome. ;)

I consider myself a magazine junkie as well! My top three picks would be: Lula, Dujour, and V Magazine.

Of course, I love Elle and Nylon as much as the next girl! <3 xoxo

marie claire, readymade, and martha stewart weddings!

28 styleezta September 2, 2009 at 3:08 pm

It’s like the Netflix for Mags! (Only you don’t have to return them!) I would subscribe to Elle Decor, Nylon (if I weren’t subscribed already), and Time(Style & Design) if they ever got it.

30 Kayla September 2, 2009 at 3:22 pm

I would for sure subscribe to Nylon (my subscription ended!), Body + Soul (I loveee their ideas on how to live more ‘naturally’), and Elle.

I definitely would recommend them carrying Vogue Paris, Numero, and V. Those are my three favorites!

Great contest :)

31 Vanessa September 2, 2009 at 3:37 pm

I would subscribe to National Geographic, Complex, and Nylon.

I wish they’d carry Vogue and GQ.

32 Amanda September 2, 2009 at 5:03 pm

Great idea!

I would get: Real Simple, Marie Claire, and Cooking Light.

Ooooohhhh I love magazines.

One of my fave past times is sitting on the couch with a cup of tea and flipping through! I already subscribe to NY Mag and Real Simple and plan to keep that, so I would ask for

- Elle
- InStyle

I suggest that they add:
- W Magazine
- Lula
- Russh
- Vogue (all countries!)

34 Market Publique September 2, 2009 at 5:57 pm

ok. i switch. or i add? I want marie claire too!

Forgot Nina Garcia had moved there until I kept reading the other comments… thanks Tina!!

35 Nicole September 3, 2009 at 4:25 am

I love reading magazines and I also use them for my writing business too.

Magazines I would like to win are:

Whole Living’s Body+Soul
Writer’s Digest

Thank you!

I’d subscribe to Black Belt (cause I am one), Organic Gardening, and Elle … till I decided to swap one out for something else. What a cool service!

I wish they’d add Reason (I know, kinda odd, but a family favorite here.)

37 Amy Marie September 3, 2009 at 6:04 am

Love this service! I want Elle, Glamour and Nylon.

38 S Disconap September 3, 2009 at 6:35 am

I imagine this is only open to US readers, but they should invent this for the UK. I get excited enough about my Elle coming, a whole stack of magazine might make me blow a gasket.

I can see why everyone is saying Elle, Nylon, Instyle as there isn’t much choice there and that’s what I’d go for. No Vogue! I’d add international mags like Lula, Pop, all the British fash mags as lots of US readers would like a cheaper way to buy them. I’d pay extra on top of the set fee.
S Disconap´s last blog ..Competition: Win tickets to Paris! My ComLuv Profile

39 Andrea September 3, 2009 at 7:56 am

From the selection I would choose Elle, Marie Claire and Nylon.

I would deffinitely suggest adding W, which is the best, and also Vogue.

40 jennine September 3, 2009 at 8:03 am

oh my goodness how awesome! keep them coming… i’m also surprised by the absense of vogue and W (which I really love….) but imported mags would be great.

41 Claire September 3, 2009 at 10:00 am

Cosmo, Seventeen (what?!), and Writer’s Digest.

42 Lucy September 3, 2009 at 3:26 pm

AHHH! This is perfect! I oftentimes buy magazines but don’t subscribe because I already have too many subscriptions AND only a few issues out of a whole year’s subscription are true keepers.

I don’t think I’ll qualify if I mention only two magazines I’m willing to subscribe to through this service (Elle and New York Magazine puts out a few nice issues every year). If Vogue US was in there (there are only like two issues every year that I would throw out or re-sell) or some international fashion magazines, I would totally subscribe to maghound!

hey, first I’d just like to say that I love this blog and think that it is very cool and useful, so thanks.

The three magazines I would choose would be 1)Nylon 2)Cosmopolitan 3)Vogue (British if possible but since they don’t have any vogues i guess not lol)
thanks again

44 MsUnreliable September 4, 2009 at 6:29 am

Such a great idea! I’d definitely sign up for Dwell, Real Simple, and maybe Discover for Mr. Unreliable…if he’s nice! If not, Elle Decor for me - I can’t get enough of home & interiors mags!

45 Corrie September 4, 2009 at 8:32 am

Cool idea for a site, indeed.

Based on the current selection, I’d go for Elle, New York Magazine, and Marie Claire.

As for mags they should ad? Well, Vogue obviously. W, Teen Vogue, The New Yorker, The Economist, and Art Forum.
Corrie´s last blog ..Hello, lovers My ComLuv Profile

46 LeaneG September 4, 2009 at 11:54 am

From the current selection, I would choose….
Fast Company(cause I’m a nerd)
Consumer Reports (did I mention what a nerd I am!?)
and either Maxim for my DH
or Baseball Digest for my Brother
(just to be nice and share like my mom taught me).

This really seems like a great service, simply for the ease of managing subscriptions in one place.

47 LeaneG September 4, 2009 at 11:56 am

I would love to see them add the magazine, ‘All You’.

It has great organization tips for the home, recipes and a slew of coupons(of course, my FAV)…which really helps me run my household. Currently I buy them at the store, but it would be nice to have at least 2 copies delivered each month. The double copies would be for the double coupons.

Based on selection-Glamour, Elle, Elle Decor.

I’d wish they’d add some international magazines (JJ, Vivi, French Vogue, etc.).

49 Nicole September 6, 2009 at 6:42 pm

What a neat idea! I usually end up continuing my subscriptions even when I’m sick of the magazine’s content. That never happens with Cat Fancy of course.
