Post image for Sponsored Post: Red Chair Confessions: Talbots

They say, if you have good style you can find good things anywhere. A few weeks ago, I posted about Red Chair Confessions as a secret teaser to this campaign… and apparently she was talking about Talbots. To tell the truth, when I got word about this retailer, I was like, ‘What? I’m not old enough to shop there…” but with Talbots, it’s not really about age, if you’re going to shop there, you’d shop there when you’re 25, 35, 55… kind of like Anne Taylor. It’s more of a kind of life style you subscribe to, perhaps even a political party you might be registered with, I don’t know…. While I am a little more eclectic than Talbots… I did keep as open mind as possible… after all, I absolutely love the Old Lady Style pool on Flickr, and I’ve been told I dress like an old lady as I love it so much anyway…so why not check it out?

The store on Madison Avenue is really big and spacious, I asked Jordana to come with me and pick out clothes. We pulled a lot of clothes from the racks, dapper / preppy chic is what kept running through my mind. We did find a lot of stuff we liked,  I would say that the fits were conservative, but more along the lines of how Banana Republic or The Gap fits. And like aforementioned retailers, the sizes run generously, like a size 2 is too big for me and I’m not a size 2 (trust me, at Top Shop, I’m like a 6-US). I loved a lot of the details in some of the pieces, like the pleats on the starburst blouse and the ruffle shirt which reminded me of tuxedo shirts with a twist, and there was loads and loads of tweed, which in my mind there is never enough tweed in the fall.

What I ended up liking the most was the outerwear, particularly the red  Herringbone Pea Coat which is worth going to the store for, at $249 it’s not bad for a fall coat (or winter in California), I would recommend going down a size if you can. The  Plaid Cape is chic an I love the asymmetrical hemline, and the a striped tee and strand of pearls and a chain belt (which I really love). Like anything, it all boils down to how you style it, so next time you go shopping with Mom, you might be able to find a few key pieces for you too.

Special thanks to Crosby for being so kind as to take the photos… she did a great job, and I totally was a pain to work with on this one.

You look so wonderful in that plaid cape. I don’t think I’ve ever ventured into a Talbots in my life; you are spot on when you say its all about how you style it. Great job.

I used to work at the flagship Talbots store in Boston. They’ve really changed around their image in the last few years and it’s looking better than ever. You look so stunning in that cape!

I always think of this horrible “etiquette” seminar my work made me go to when I think of Talbots-she basically told us anything we could buy there would be appropriate to wear to work…

That being said, you’re no babuska and you totally look adorable in the above pieces….

You look great in the plaid cape, and I’m surprised it’s from Talbots! But that may have just a little something to do with how you styled it. :)

I’m laughing at Ashe’s comment. How horrible to sit through an etiquette seminar for work!

i’ve been a secret fan of talbots for quite some time- my mother in law actually got me into them. i still have not bought anything- for lack of money, but they have the best penny loafers. i am definitely in the market for some comfy chic penny loafers.
