One of the great things about youth is experimenting with makeup. I used to be more bold, but lately, I’ve been toning it down a smidge as my make up has started to take on a more functional role in my life. Last week, at the Chicago Fashion Foundation event, I ran into a dramatically dressed Giana De Young wearing eyeshadow with glitter liner, I’ve never seen anything like it in real life. Though it kind of reminded me of Doe Deere Blogazine. I also liked her hair and earnings… and the nice use of ORANGE lipstick. Orange lipstick… now that’s something to look into.
When it comes to makeup are you more about fun or function?

Her make-up and earrings are fierce
I love the look… to look at. I just can’t see wearing it out on any night other than Halloween or a theme party. I’m also 30 years old and while Doe Deer did just do a post where she wistfully imagined a world where we could all go out wearing and looking like whatever we wanted no matter the age, I still couldn’t take myself seriously going out to run errands like this. No offense. Part of me is a bit envious of the ballsy attitude it would take to do so. I guess I’ll always be a black liquid eyeliner kind of gal.
Orange lipstick is definitely a GO!

I love the bold and colorful look on OTHER people. Not so much on myself. I love makeup and colors, but for my every day life I use and am more comfortable making a more subtle statement. Now shoes are a different story!
It would be fun for dress up… but I don’t think I could go to work like that. Unfortunately.

Function. All the way…

I can get away with a little crazy eye makeup at work, so I either wear one or two colored eye shadows on my top lid, or a line of bright color along my lower lash line.

I’m both. I go neutral when my clothes are really bold and strong. I go colorful on the face when I’m not as bold with the clothes - although I never got as wild as she does. I love fall/winter because I can really gold bold with my eye shadow. I’m always searching for more colors to do different combos - I’m obsessed with greens and purples right now. And the best thing about is if I really don’t like it, it swipes off in about 2 seconds with a makeup wipe. Don’t be afraid to experiment with color, it can liven up your outlook on beauty.

❤ lara..oh yes, i wish we could dress up for the supermarket…but then again, why not? i think this look is great for a party, where it was completely appropriate that she wore this eyemakeup. it certainly works!

❤ sarah..ooh that sounds intresting!
❤ dwj, you are a master with makeup! greens and purples also are some of my favorites too….
I’m a bit of both. More to the fun side if I had to pick. I don’t think I’ll ever stop playing around with it all. I may end up being one of those one ladies with big bright eye shadow one! Tee hee

There’s a function for make-up besides fun? I don’t feel like I’ve really got my make-up on unless there’s some bright eyeshadow and/or glitter involved.
