Say Anything was probably one of the biggest movies in the summer of ‘89…but I didn’t see it. I heard the ‘In Your Eyes‘ song over and over and over again, but until last night… I’ve never, ever seen it. I remember people talking about how good it was, and yeah, probably back then it was good…but to me, as a movie, the best part about it was the supporting actress Lily Taylor’s character Corey Flood’s hair. (Why are the best characters always the supporting ones?) Say Anything reminded me of the some of the more natural fresh hair styles of the 80’s and early 90’s. I quite like the romantic, soft look of this, maybe it’s time to experiment with it?
Now I’ve been looking for a new way to style my hair for a while, I’m pretty sick of my bangs.. too much work with keeping them the ‘perfect’ length. they’re not quite long enough yet to really pull them out of my face but, it was pretty easy to emulate this look with a simple bobby pin.

I’m SO jealous of your waves!!!
Also, I can’t believe you’ve never seen it. Then again, I’m always in disbelief when people haven’t seen all of John Hughes films. I suppose I can thank my much older sister for that…

That’s easily one of those movies I could see over and over again… and you, as usual, look fab!
Love,
Jaime
❤ ashe…haha..thanks,but with the waves comes the frizz…yuck! you know what’s strange, is my parents never took me to see any of those movies, nor would they rent them so being the oldest i had to scope them out for myself. i still think the best john huges film is breakfast club, and i didn’t see that until the 90’s.
❤ jaime…it’s certainly a cute movie!
Wow you look great! You took the best part of the hairstyle (the soft waves) and ditched the big “pouf” on top, which is a bit too dated in my opinion (even though everything old is new again

GORGEOUS, J! Just gorgeous.
OK - That’s spot on. Of course, it helps when you have gorgeous hair like yours!
I missed out on a lot of 80s classic cult films growing up
I just recently saw St. Elmo’s Fire- and it was SO GOOD. I’ve been getting a lot of style inspiration from the 80s and early 90s films… It’s uncanny how much we’re copping from that period in fashion. Your hair looks fabulous!

I loved what you did to your hair! I’ve been doing a bit of “improvising” myself to buy myself time before I decide to cut it short.
You look gawjuss! But I have to admit that I am, apparently, the only one in the world who detested that movie!

That’s one of my favorite movies from back in the day. Actually I watched another one of Cameron Crowe’s movies last night, “Singles”, which also has some amazing late 80s early 90s rocker hair.

❤lady lux… hahah the pouf is part of the appeal…though i know what you mean, it is a bit dated.
❤thanks winona!
❤kline..hahah,well, my hair is really just a pain in the arse…
❤dreamsequins…oh my, i never saw st elmos fire either! must put it in my queue
❤carla.. soo true, it’s always best to do that before cutting, most the time its just being tired of an overgrown cut rather htan the hair itself.
❤wendy…well, i thought the movie really didn’t make much sense at all… like who falls in love and lives happily ever after your last summer before college? ususally that the summer of confusion and ‘what now?’ and i still don’t understand what the point was with the father…. it was just weird. and strange that everyone related to frazier was in that film.
❤make do..thanks!
❤vint junkie…you had nice hair in the 80’s! i had pretty awful hair myself
❤yoshi! aww thanks! not as cool as your amazing hair though… i keep thinking about it…
❤dapper..you and me both! it’s amazing what movies we miss out on.
Say Anything is one of my favorite 80’s movie…this movie stamped my obsession with John Cusack, and i especially love the soundtrack playing a range of punk oh so softly in the background.. his wardrobe was classic with band tee’s and trench coat..love it..i also ditto Lily’s Taylor look..i would wear what she wore if i was in high school then! oh and a little backstage fact when he was holding the stereo up in that scene he was really playing i believe Fishbone or The Clash one of his favorite bands, they dubbed over it with In your Eyes…

I’m really becoming a fan of the “natural hair” look. I quit flat ironing my hair months ago, and just love trying to bring out natural looking waves. It feels sexier and less work!
Also have never seen it.
Your hair came out great! Fantastic inspiration pull.
Love Grace.

I’m glad you finally saw the movie, its great. That song is one of my favorite, although you really need to hear the cover done by Jeffery Gaines, its really fantastic!
I have a hairstyle challenge for you…I’d really like to learn the 40s wave, think Victoria Lake, or Rachael McAdams on The Notebook. Any ideas?

This is such an awesome look. I’m so ready for hair with some body and texture to come back into style (and give my flatiron a break). Then again, I really just want to try a crimper. Which is probably just as bad. Oh well.

Too funny… I call that my “too lazy to do anything proper with my hair but don’t want it in my face” look. Looks adorable on you, though! And Lili Taylor is a goddess, of course!
