Hooray for my new all-time favorite self-tanner

by Sonja on October 23, 2009

With fall and winter come fewer sunny days. Even if you used sunscreen over the summer, your skin probably got a nice touch of color. And it’s probably starting to fade. If you want to get that healthy-looking glow back safely, you must try the new Antidote self-tanners.

I tried the All-Seasons Glow system ($46.99), which includes Go Slough Yourself, an exfoliator (love the name!), and All-Seasons Glow self-tanner (they can also be purchased separately). This self-tanner totally stands out from the crowd. It’s now my all-time favorite – actually, it’s the first one I’ve ever liked.

It quickly provides color that looks really natural, doesn’t have that horrible self-tanner smell, is cruelty-free, and has an eco-friendly formula free of parabens, and propylene glycol. I was able to see results after just one application and didn’t smell awful in the process.

Go Slough Yourself is the perfect pre-self-tanner scrub. It has lots of scrubby beads as well as salicylic acid for double exfoliation and no oily feel or residue that can cause self-tanners to streak. The Antidote line also includes Summer Glow for deeper, darker color. Latex gloves are smartly included so you don’t get your hands all messy and brown.

About the Line

Antidote Skin Care is a line started here in San Francisco by licensed aesthetician and educator Sinead Norenius. This woman is passionate about self-tanners. She calls herself “melanin-challenged” and has a blog devoted to all things self-tanning. With all the feedback she got through her blog, she decided to create her own self-tanning line.

Sinead has lots of great instructional videos on how-to apply self-tanners on the Antidote website with many excellent tips I never would have thought of. For instance, she recommends using a q-tip to remove self-tanner on the face in areas where you have hyperpigmentation, because you don’t want to make those freckles and age spots darker. So true.

Do Tell

What do you think of the Antidote self-tanners? Do you use self-tanners? Do tell.

This tanner sounds pretty cool! I usually don’t need to use them because I already have pretty dark skin, but my friends are addicts! The Xen-Tan Self Tanner Luxe Trio is also a self-tanner product which gives you a perfect glow in the very end. Check it out at beautyXpose.com!
