Monki on My Back

The internet is both a blessing and a curse. Well, as you know it’s a place where you can find things that aren’t in your ordinary path of travel (blessing), and well, it’s a curse because you can find things that you want, but don’t ship to your country. And it’s not like the old fashioned, find when you are on holiday and stumble upon a shop you never heard of before. I remember the first time I happened upon an H&M on a trip to Amsterdam, I had no idea what it was, for it didn’t come to the US for a few years later. Holy moly, I near had a heart attack!

Well leave it t the Swedes to be the land of adorable, affordable clothes (and a furniture), the label Monki, which is a concept fashion and stationery sore that integrates illustrated prints to tell ‘the story of Monki’s’. I don’t know exactly what Monkis (monkies?) are, but the pieces are trendy, yet posses a whimsy that many high street labels don’t have. Even their lookbook is delightful to watch….

I really love quirky pieces in their collection, the current season has quite a few numbers that I haven’t seen around, a quilted sack waisted mini, striped boots that would make Beetlejuice jealous, cropped blazers in the prettiest blue and so forth, it’s quite refreshing really to find clothes you can wear, if you can just get to Sweden. I guess we’ll have to visit my brother-in-law who currently lives in Stockholm! (like we need an excuse!)
