First Days in Incheon, Korea

by jennine on December 2, 2009

So we’ve been in Korea for a few days now, Rocky accepted his Green Life Award yesterday at the Design Korea 2009 in Incheon. I wish I had some interesting pictures here, but Incheon is a massive city under construction. I’ve heard people talk about the kind of construction that’s going on in the east, in China and India, but to actually comprehend it massive developments of skyscrapers and 130 story tall buildings, just didn’t seem feasible… but it’s happening. I’ve never seen anything like it in the west. So here in Incheon, it’s a bunch of construction sites, massive roads with nobody on them, it’s kind of post-apocolyptic zombie feeling, not to mention the hazy weather, it doesn’t really make for good photos. Though today we’re heading out to Seoul… and I’m really excited about that!

Today I’m wearing a vintage watercolor dress from Nasty Gal, with a studded laced denim jacket from Topshop . I got the jacket for the Dress Up Soiree, and I wear it, but some how I don’t think I’ve ever really posted about it. It has a snug fit, and structured shoulders (just enough to tide me over until I decide to get a different structured shoulder jacket) and three quarter sleeves… I quite like it. To go with the swirly theme, the splash metallic tights from Welovecolors adds a subtle twist to the regular black tights I tend to wear. And the bag is by Coach (don’t forget to enter to win your own!) The overall color scheme kind of matches goes with the hazy weather here…

I couldn’t resist taking a picture of this random cat… it looks like he needs a BATH!

While the locale doesn’t look too amazing (I know we’re only seeing one facet of it), you look fabulous. That jacket is to die for. :)

Hi Jeanine,
Love, love your artsy-chic style. I think you’re going to love Seoul. I went to high school there for two years (I’m a military brat), and I really enjoyed the culture and the style. I was rocking super platforms, baby doll dresses, and flannel shirts when I was sixteen in the nineties (hopefully, not all together!)

oh my god! i didn’t realise you were planning a trip to korea! it’s so, so great. i went to seoul last year. shopping to die for and dirt cheap! my favourite was ssamzie market - you guys have GOT to go there. it’ll be nice for rocky too as they have some design shops and it’s generally just quirky and funky. i also went to this massive (mmh, actually not that massive, but huge multi storey!) shopping centre like a 5-10 min cab journey from ssamzie market. it’s got loads of boutiques and i bought the cutest earrings. the koreans are amazing at making high heels. unfortunately i wasn’t able to buy a single pair as their biggest shoe size is a UK 5 / EUR 38 and i’m a 6… okay, i’m gonna shut up now, i am just over excited about you being in seoul. i hope you find time to shop. and BIG congratulations to rocky for winning the award!!! have fun you too, xxxxxxxx
