Today’s Attire : Dressing like the land

I’ve always loved the California landscape. It may not be the prettiest in the world, but I’ve always loved the crystal blue skies against the muted brown rolling hills, the smell of sage in the air, the sunshine. No matter how long I’ve been away, when I come back to Southern California, it never ceases to inspire me.

Yesterday, I got a lovely package from Violetville Vintage who I’ve been doing some work for, she sent me a few gorgeous vintage items, which I’ll show you soon, but she must have been reading my mind, because I had been planning to get some blue and turquoise in my wardrobe to complement the slew of warm colored clothing I’ve acquired recently. The blue wool jacket is the perfect length and the perfect color. UPDATE: There’s a great giveaway on Wishwishwish for a Violetville gift certificate!

A few weeks ago, we pondered if we would love or leave the Rodarte for Target collection and curiosity won over. Meanwhile today, as I was finishing up my Christmas shopping, I stopped in Target and checked out what was left of the   just to see if indeed there was anything worth picking up. All in all, the collection was hit and miss, the more interesting pieces looked flimsy, and the more classic pieces could be picked up anywhere, ie. striped shirt? I did end up getting the lace print dress, as I liked the print and the tule trim, and it fit well. So there you have it, I submitted to the hype.

That outfit looks amazing. I’d never have thought have putting a bright blue with that dress.

I’m a bit jealous of your sunshine and blue skies, we have an inch of ice on the pavements at the moment and it hasn’t stopped raining!

Oh my… I’m sorry! I know how much it sucks to have shoddy weather… after living in the mid-west, I can now say that I took for granted all the beautiful California weather…

Hey, I love the dress! I totally blew it. Was just at Target & got confused in the toy section. Forgot to look for Rodarte. I suppose it’s terribly picked through by now & I’m NOT going on Christmas Eve to find out. HaHa! Anyway, I was excited about the leopard print dress until I found out it had bows down the back. Come on.

Beautiful photos!

Merry Christmas Eve!

oh, i was supposed to be getting lost in the toy section, and ended up buying a gift for my nephew that was on the ‘unapproved list’ woops! .. oh i didn’t check the bows on the back of the leopard dress, i just didn’t like how the leopard print was spraypainted on.. tacky.

i bypassed that dress for all the other ones, so while now i have pretty dresses ready for whatever springtime event is called for, i’m sad i didn’t get that one for just regular daily wear (did get the matchy t-shirt though). i did like the fit & material. waaaaah! hopefully i can find that dress while staying with my in-laws in the PA suburbs :)

well i can’t imagine that 1st photo looking any more californian. i love that particular california feeling, kind of washed out 70s sunshine, hinting at the perfect temperature. and i love the look of that dress. and always notice your eagle belt, i’ll have to find one!

I too fell victim to the appeal of the Rodarte collection. Didn’t think it would happen, but the leopard dress fit so well so I couldn’t resist.
Love the way this dress looks on you!

what a gorgeous landscape and outfit partnership! i love the boots and the tights…and the dress does look lovely! i personally skipped out on the target rodarte thing because it just didn’t catch my interest too much…only the sequin skeleton dress but really, i’m just a bit addicted to sequins in general so yeah. Happy holidays!

I gave in as well and purchased one of their dresses, the gold chiffon dress with bows on the shoulders. I do have to admit the fit was perfect! Usually I’ll like something from designers that design a line for Target, but the fit is never good. I was pleasantly surprised! :) You look fabulous! Merry Christmas! :)

Beautiful pictures! I am loving the blue on you… A pretty complement to the Rodarte for Target dress. I have heard that the quality of the pieces are shabby- but hey, it’s Target and it’s mass market… Topshop collabs do me right. I haven’t been too impressed with Target.
