Into the Woods

norwegian wood

Sometimes it’s painful to live far away from a major fashion city like London, Paris or New York. Especially if you follow the events, get notices of killer sample sales, and read about pop-up shops only to realize that even with the internet, there’s nothing like actually being there. One of our favorite designers, Norwegian Wood, participated Topshop EDIT a pop up boutique at the Oxford Circus store November and December of last year, where she sold these beautiful wood, leather, acrylic and chain necklaces.

Lucky for us… earlier this week Norwegian Wood had launched a mini-collection of necklaces once exclusively sold at Topshop EDIT on her Etsy shop. Three necklaces,  Mitra, Valeria (yellow variation) and Cimmerian uses laser cut  Mahogany lumber and acrylic off-cuts from clock and accessories shop Furni along with hand-cut leather to make the finishing touches. A beautiful cross between modern and tribal, geometric forms are bold and yet completely wearable statement necklace. Of all of her collections, these are my favorite as they make statements like a lot of Norwegian Wood’s pieces do, yet they have a sophisticated edge like modern art.

I love the organic softness of the materials against the hard design lines. So cool and interesting. Congratulations to her and her success!

oh yes… i thought the same thing after the post… something was familiar, but i couldn’t put my finger on it. but mostly i like the fact that it’s made with cast off pieces from other products.

I know what exactly what you mean about living somewhere between LA, NY, and London. As for NW, she is so beautiful and I love her stuff.
