Plaid, Plaid Life

by jennine on April 23, 2010

Goodness gracious, there’s nothing like a beautiful Friday. I can’t even concentrate on writing this post. Can I get away with… “Lalala, I like wearing this dress because it makes me feel so pretty. Lalala.” That’s what half these outfit posts say in 300 words or less anyway. That’s why we wear nice clothes!

Ah, but with all Spring Fever induced delirium aside, this is one of two dresses I got from a barter/exchange with Violetville Vintage. The other one I got was the pink dress that fits like a glove. This plaid dress is a bit more relaxed, it still fits well, but the full skirt makes me feel like frolicking in an open field and singing show tunes. Do I know any show tunes? No… I’ve only seen SIX musicals :

  1. The Sound of Music
  2. Wizard of OZ
  3. West Side Story
  4. Singing in the Rain
  5. Oh Brother Where Art Thou
  6. The Rocky Horror Picture Show

And I haven’t seen any of these enough times to know any of the words to any of the songs. It’s alright, I’ll just make new stuff up.

I’m thinking of new show tunes in this photo. I like the small ruffles detailing, and the crispness of the fabric.
Oh, and these d’Orsay pumps, picked up at a moving sale of the lovely Mascara Vintage. These aren’t vintage, obviously, but I love the brown bow on them, and they kind of remind me of what Barbie would wear, if she had anything that wasn’t pink.

Boy’s Blazer: Thrifted • Dress: Violetville Vintage • Shoes: Aldo • Flower: H&M • Ring: Wendy Brandes • Cuff: Market Publique • Sunglasses: Cynthia Rowley • Handbag: Vintage

Those shoes are gorgeous! I love how d’orsay pumps just make any outfit look more ladylike, and I love the varying shades of blue in this outfit.

Love it! Nice seeing a structured jacket with something carefree like a plaid dress. Not a musical per se, but have you seen Wicked? I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it - I hate to admit but plays usually are not my thing.

I love, love, love, all the recent grown-up feminine outfits you’ve been rocking lately. I have begun to feel the need to dress up a bit more recently, I think after a certain age constantly sporting jeans and leggings just doesn’t work. I love them but I also feel blah in them, so thank you for inspiring me to get it together this spring!

Adore those shoes!
