Ladies who know how to put on makeup always amaze me. Strangely, I knew I wanted to wear makeup as long as I could remember, but applying it was always another story. Admittedly, I tend to stick to a few brands, or hold onto them until, well it’s probably disgusting how long I hold onto makeup.
I’ve heard loads of great things about NARS over the years. The first time I was introduced was about ten or eleven years ago, a make-up artist who was working with my ex-husband told me it was her favorite brand to work with. It’s been on my list ever since. But since I tend to buy makeup on Fillmore Street (don’t ask why, it’s my favorite street to shop). Trying out NARS keeps getting put on the back burner.
When I was invited to the NARS summer collection beauty event last week to review the new products, I couldn’t say no. There they described thier look for the season, sheer, natural with elements of color. Sheer lipsticks , translucent tints, shimmery lip glosses. The palette has a lot of rich colors, turquoise, orange, fuchsia and browns. Very summery. What captivated me were the bases, the Skin Smoothing Face Prep (shown above in the square box) specifically because it is made to give that flawlessly smooth complextion on the skin.
I know a few people who have perfect skin… Art of Accessories, Midtown Girl, Wendy Brandes and my husband! I envy them so much! My skin has pores, fine, and not-so-fine lines.. so I was desperate to see if this worked at all. These un-photoshopped images give you an idea of the difference it makes on my skin. Though, it did leave my skin feeling dry to the touch, and it did make for a bit of chicken skin underneath my eyes. The overall effect was smooth and glowy. At $30 a pot, it’s something you want to use sparingly, but it does work. It might work better if I used foundation over it, but I didn’t get to try that…
The Multiple Tint (shown top image the big pink stick) is a giant color stick for the cheeks and lips. I really love the idea. Blush is such a pain for me, as I’m not the best at applying it without looking like a circus clown. This is sheer and you have to do quite a bit of layering to get a bright effect.. you can see it better on Morgan, she has such a nice complexion!

I LOVE Nars! I’ve been a little reticent to try the multiple tint, but I’m stuck on Nars blush so it evens out.
The photos of you are so cute, too. =D
NARS Blush is all I’ve tried, but I’ll never go back to another blush after using it.

Nars has been my favorite for years! When I was about 14, I went on my first of many mother/daughter trips to New York and ended up having my makeup done for the first time at the Nars counter in Barneys. I think I still have the eye shadow duo and lip gloss my mom bought me that day. I should probably throw those out, huh?

Foundation is so hard for me. Some make me look oily, some dry and wrinkly, and some … do nothing. Honestly.. I don’t know what to use anymore. What is your normal brand? What rand have you had success with?

Oh wow! it does look very natural and sheer. I think I might just have to try it. I don’t wear makeup on a dail basis because I don’t like looking… well, made up and I can’t seem to master an every day look…

Nars is just great. Their colors are as good as Armani and Chanel. They’re carried at Sephora. But my favorite place to buy is Saks in San Francisco. Nice, nice, unpretentious staff.
what a beautiful, fresh face!

Nars was my first makeup love but I’ve been obsessed with makeup so long I’ve tried them all. I appreciate the great compliment about my skin, I work hard at it but I also know what makeup works with me to make it look even better. We can always talk makeup! I love I love it all and love giving tutorials even more

Have you tried Revlon Colorstay? It’s actually not bad. I mean, the gloss wears away like any other gloss but the color stays for a while. Not bad, especially for the price.

I’m loving the multiple tint! I may have to run out and get some. Do you know if they have different colors available?

Pretty pictures! Very fresh and springy. I use NARS blush and lipgloss almost daily (either that or Bobbi Brown). Their old foundation formula is perfect and I’ve been using it for years, but recently they introduced different formulas. I tried both and dislike both. Luckily, I found a bottle of the old formula at Macy’s, but I don’t know what I’m going to do once it’s gone. Five years of wearing the same foundation and - poof - one day it ceases to exist. /rant
i love nars too. love the multitasker and the lip glosses, they go on perfectly sheer.

Wow, you look great! I love NARS. I know what you mean about branching out to different brands, too, recently I bought some (rather expensive) Dior foundation and primer, and I LOVE it. It makes me look so…dewy! And its always exciting to try out new stuff for the first time

The multiple in south beach is seriously a life saver - somewhere between a bronzer and a blush - so perfect for summer! Usually blushes just look too pink or orange on me. The cream eye shadows are also to dies for - super easy to apply, pretty and subtle. (No I swear I do not work for Nars

You absolutely lucky little devil, getting free Nars! I’m obsessed with Nars, but thus far all I’ve been able to afford is their blush (I have it in Orgasm and Angelika). That Multiple Tint must be a new thing (it’s usually not called a Tint after the Multiple - so is it a new concept?) but I love the glow it gave Morgan!
And the lip gloss - I DIE!

As I learn about more and more NARS products, I become hooked. Simply the BEST blushes I own are NARS. Beautiful lipglosses too! I’m eager to try their lipsticks and foundation and primers now. They are quite pricey, but I notice for the blush - a little goes a long way!
