Hello lovelies, well, I just got back from New York, where I participated in a panel discussion at BlogHer: Fashion Blogging is Serious Business. It was a whirlwind trip, let me tell you, filled with all kinds of high and low emotions. New York will do that to you. A few days before the panel, I got an email from Karen at PurpleLab asking if I would be interested in being dressed by Juicy Couture. Juicy Couture, most famous for their velor track suits (we know, we all had them) has been branching out with their collections, most recently partnering with Erin Fetherson and well also it’s recent launching of the Bird by Juicy Couture collection. Well, since most my clothes were wrinkled from my horrible packing, and it was on the way to Wendy’s house as I was doing an eat, sleep, denim feature, I gave it a go.
The Bird Collection was really beautiful, lots of classic blacks and greys. Sexy cuts and girly details. I really had a hard time picking between the a faux fur coat, a herringbone jacket with built in bustle, and a structured dress that made my boobs say ‘hello’. It was also hard to pick, because while you can wear wool any time of year in San Francisco (I had my winter coat on this morning, with cardigan underneath) New York in August is hotter than hell. I ended up getting this black blazer, well because I’m sick of my current black blazer, and this one had beautiful structured shoulders and an interesting tail. The herring bone shorts are darling, and I love them, and well NYC made me get over my fear of shorts. It’s too hot to wear pants.
Also, since I packed FOUR pairs of shoes, and none of them black heels, Wendy was so nice to give me a pair of her shoes, one of her favorites that accidentally stretched on a particularly rainy day… they fit me well!
All in all the conference itself went well. It was really great to see the BlogHer community, which is a lot of bloggers, holy moly. The conversation was really great too, check out their liveblog post here. (note the post was taken down for a moment, while they fixed some errors, it should be temporary, and back soon).

I have never seen you in shorts like these before - you look great! And yeah, Bird is a pleasant surprise, so far away and removed from those tracksuits…
Love that blazer! The cut on the back is so awesome - gives it just that subtle flair of something different needed to catch someone’s attention. =]
Wish I could have gone! See you soon at NYFW though.
That blazer was gorgeous! It made those shorts really chic! I’m also digging the necklace! I could dream up of a million outfits that I could rock that statement piece with!
Oh, btw, I read the transcripts from that panel at BlogHer and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Your answers were great! Fingers crossed I can make it to the conference next year!

I was in that panel and I loved what you had to say. I loved that you talked about not BSing when it came to brands and just being honest. I want to join IFB - seriously, I left the panel feeling energized!

omg, I absolutely love your outfit! That necklace is also fabulous. So chic and classy! I would have never considered Juicy for myself (other than in high school) but this ‘Bird’ collection sounds super promising! xx

I’m usually not a big fan of Juicy Couture but this collections is amazing. I’d wear every piece from it especially because I love everything black.

i was following a lot of the tweets from the blogher conference and it sounded like a great place to learn and meet new people. Also, I’m not a big fan of Juicy anymore… most of their stuff is overpriced even if I am a big fan of Erin Fetherston. I’ll give them a second chance to impress me this fall!

I used to be prejudice against Juicy due to the influx of sweatsuits by tweens, but Bird more than makes up for it!

The details on the back of that blazer are exquisite! So interesting. It’s a shame that we all thin of those horrendous (imo) track suits when Juicy comes to mind, as every now and again they do something really special.
Side note: I”ll be in SF next week and am seriously looking forward to the weather, as it’s hot as blazes here in the south — as in, 110 heat index for over a week straight!

WOow this (very well-worn) cocktail shorts / jacket Truly sounds like a (slightly baroque) illustration of a certain “Urban CHIC-issime” idea, AND I really like the way your polished toes tend to instil such a fruity twist of “Fetish GLAM” on it !!!

Oh, man! For so long, I’ve been trying to stay away from Juicy because of those sweatsuits and the furry handbags. I’ll have to take a peek into the store next time I go by it.
PS. Don’t be afraid of shorts!!! Your legs are model worthy!
