Beautiful November

vintage plaid cape

My head is still in a haze from the weekend. Yesterday was such a beautiful day, I could not stay inside. That’s the beauty of living in places that don’t have non stop gorgeous weather. You can’t take a beautiful November day for granted. Yesterday, my husband and I rode our bikes up the Hudson River to the Cloisters, but we were too tired and hungry to see the museum, so we just ate a hamburger and rode back home. Yes, I was that hungry! Along the way, the leaves were so colorful and the river so peaceful, it felt like a trip out of town.

Since getting my clothes earlier this week, I’ve had a look at my coat collection again, and noticed that I had a lot more than I thought. One of the pieces was a wool coat my grandmother had made in the 1960’s. It has a lot of cape elements which I’m seeing around a lot lately, but it’s got lining and of course sleeves making it — not a cape. Yet it’s perfect for days like this.

Wearing: Vintage Cape: Made by Grandma • Jeans: Hussien Chalayan for J Brand • Tee: H&M • Belt: Vintage • Bag: Kenneth Cole • Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Holy gorgeous leaves! We got our first dump of snow over the weekend, so I’m super jealous. ;)

you look so cute! wish i could see your JC’s though! I’d call the coat a swing coat - it sure is very cape-like and swing coats to me are like cape-coat hybrids. (picture THAT mating scene…*shudder*)

What a perfect time of year for a visit to the Cloisters, especially via bike ride! I remember my husband and I took a cab there, but of course we couldn’t get a cab back and ended up on a looooong uncomfortable city bus ride to our junky hotel near Times Square. Still, the Cloisters is my favorite NYC memory.

Beautiful, beautiful rich colors in these shots. I’ve seen your tutorial on taking outfit photos, but I still don’t know how you get these results! Nice mixture of stylish patterns and textures, too.

Great set of shots. I agree with Fajr, the purple is so perfect with the leaves! So jealous because the trees here in Greece are refusing to turn any new color. Boo!
