Shoe d’jour: Heels for Walking

by jennine on November 17, 2010

aldo booties

Do people really wear heels to walk around? Everyone I see wears flats, it’s not often I’ll see that lone woman strutting in a pair of heels. But for some reason I want to be like that. A real woman who really walks around in heels.

After killing my walking around shoes, it was time to get a new pair. Lately I’ve been meaning to get back into wearing heels. Heels for real, not just for taking photos, or for indoor use only. The Kuza from Aldo looked like they might fit the bill, with a rubber sole and sturdy heel. They are utilitarian enough to wear with pants, and the heel adds the girly touch. Since I got them last week, I’ve walked everywhere in these. A few miles, running up and down stairs… and they totally work. They work so well, I think I want another pair in a different color!

So I guess, now I am one of those ladies. With the right shoe, anything is possible.

Ha, “indoor use only”

Thanks for the head’s up!

FYI, your one photo sells these heels more than the four photos seen on the Aldo website - the leather looks really cheap in those other photos, like half suede or something. Weird.)

I wish they were available in a dark navy blue or a darker brown! - I would definitely buy them.

It’d be so nice to find shoes like that. And these are really cute! I have a pair from Urban Outfitters but they ended up hurting after a few hours.

I really love these boots! I don’t know if it’s the chunky heel (always more comfy to walk around in than stilettos!) or the bit of hardware peeking around the back. But I love them!

I have to admit, I am one of those types that would wear heels constantly if I could! lol. Sometimes that means I feel great-there is something rather empowering and mood-boosting about a fabulous pair of heels. But other times my feet/knees balk at it! Right now I’m actually on the hunt for a good (budget friendly) pair of black ballet flats for this year. I usually avoid flat-flats because they make my (already short) legs look shorter, but I’ve been coveting a pair lately.

I’ve heard that the daily real world high heel thing does happen in Paris — but not in NYC so much. I need to find some Paris streetcams so I can see what all women really are wearing in the streets — not just the stylistas caught by bloggers.

they don’t wear them in my town. but on the rare occasion i see a woman confidently striding along in a pair like it’s nothing, i am all respect. those boots look solid! there’s nothing like getting your high heel stride right. i wear my higher heels tight and that helps.

I’ve always wanted to be that woman too! In LA you can always be wearing heels because you drive everywhere, but then no one really gets to see you strutting down the street. Love these boots, can’t wait to see what you style them with!

I feel like even the ones you see out the streets are either tourists or on their lunch break.. people just usually bring flats to wear to and from work… I see so much sneakers and flats in the subway. I’ve worn those booties with 3″ heels around but had to pack up with the band-aids.. =)

I’ve been looking for this type of shoes - ankle height, lace up, chunky heel - Perfect! No more band aids.

I pretty much always wear heels, no matter where I go…unless I’m heading to the gym!

Some days I will walk around in heels all the live long day, and other days just the thought of it makes me queasy.

I work at a department store now and all the cosmetic women wear heels. It is such an amazing lifestyle that they represent: back in the day(50-60s) the life of a counter girl was sort of glamorous.

I remember when I first went to New York I thought it was going to be all Sex and the City with all these women strutting around in their Manolos. No so! American women love to rock the flats. European women do the heels thing more. I used to wear heels for everything but now save them for night time.
