Lovely Afternoon

the coveted by monica shulman

When the year starts winding down, there’s an energy in the air. A buzz. A spirit… call it the holidays, call it whatever, but I really start to feel it. Maybe it’s because I absolutely love New York, my new neighborhood, being close to all the friends I would only see online. Earlier this week, Monica Shulman who took my photos last week, stopped by again for cupcakes and girl talk. Even though we’re pretty much both women! Women talk!?! That sounds so serious. Believe me we weren’t serious!

I’ve been talking about heels that I can walk in, and these boots have been a life saver. I love them, they’re perfect for bundling up in the fall months. Since moving to the East Coast, I’ve found new love for tweeds and wools. I’ve loved them before, but before it was playing a part, here it’s their natural habitat.  This day I wore an Irish cable knit sweater upside down, as I’ve been really inspired by the Alexander Wang dramatic sweater sleeves. It’s a great sweater, but I can’t seem to wear it underneath anything. Thank god it’s warm!

Wearing: Irish cable knit sweater upside down • Wool Pants: Theory • Shoes: Aldo • Tank: H&M • Bag: Spotted Moth.

You always seem to be coming up with ideas I would never think of in a million years. An upside-down sweater? This is why we love you, Jennine!

The boots made for walking = awesome. Aaaaand I love the way you reinvent clothing. Upside down sweaters and hippie pants that become a dress. Brilliant. Thank you :)

Your sweater looks so artfully draped that I thought it was just a great piece of knitwear (which it is) and I didn’t realize you were wearing it upside-down. Well done.

I know that cupcake place! Their lemon cupcake is delicious.
It would be really cool to run into you some day. Then again, I would probably be too shy and just stare from afar. :P

That sweater is amazing. New York is amazing, too. I always have these amazing shifts when I’m there, epic changes inside and I think it’s because so many creative people are centred in one place. The energy is out of this world.
