Lately I’ve been feeling a shift in my style. A good chunk of it more than likely has to do with the amazing people on the streets everyday. I’ve also been wanting to do something about ‘refining’ my style for a while. It’s been hard with all the moves, the influence of all the style blogs I read and working from home for the last few years. Working in an office space, getting out of the house, and getting dressed properly every day has definitely made me want to step it up. Have I succeeded? Well, that’s debatable, but trying new silhouettes, more layering and the like has been a lot of fun.
The 70’s vibe is really inspiring me for the first time ever. I’ve never loved the 70’s much, except for the music like Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder and Elton John…Oh there’s more. Style wise, it never really clicked, I bypassed it completely in the 90’s always favoring 60’s influences. But the long silhouette, the long layers, it really works today.
I did a review of the Paige Lou Lou Tulip Jeans on eat, sleep, denim where I tested out the bell bottom look. Like tie dye, I’ve never owned a pair of bell bottoms until recently. While these aren’t a true bell bottom (they’re only 20 inches at the opening) it really was a lot of fun to wear.

i don’t feel skinny, but nyc is good for the figure, it’s all that walking and stairs.
Oh I love this look! Though, I’ve always been partial to 70s style… However, the color palette you’ve got in this outfit definitely makes it modern and so pretty! I’m also loooving that sweater!

I’ve just been getting into bell bottoms as well, I think it’s very much about the different silhouette- the change is nice and really quite flattering. You look gorgeous!

Ok, I’m not sure what your feelings are on Rachel Zoe (she’s one of those hate it or love it things), but this outfit reminds me of her style. I hope you take that as a compliment and aren’t offended by it.
It’s a combination of the flares, hat and sunglasses. I’m heading over to eat, sleep, denim now to read the review. I need to find me some perfect bell bottoms!

oh yeah, i’ve come to like her over the past few years… it took a while for me to warm up. she does the flares so well…
I have been refining my style for the last few years and making slight tweaks to it. It needed to be done long ago and after rediscovering fashion as an interest, I just felt it was time. It is actually a bit fun to make changes to my wardrobe…only wish I had a lot more money to do so.
I am loving your pants in the photos! Also really want a chnky sweater like that one. Great outfit!

That beanie is adorable! Somehow it brings out the fun and whimsy side of the whole outfit.

I have to admit that despite my ardent love for mid-century fashion, the 70s bohemian/hippie look has been a look that has appealed to me almost constantly as an adult.
I plan on being a middle aged woman sporting long skirts and piles of necklaces and bracelets in the 70s fashion-it just seems like the kind of decade that will appeal to me even in 20 years! lol.
I really, really love your layered necklaces and chunky knit sweater. It really adds a lot of texture to the overall look-very beautiful!

I’m enjoying the angles you’ve created with the sweater and scarf here.
Loving the hat, necklace and Wendy has AMAZING pieces, a little pricey for me, but beautiful none the less! A girl can dream of one of her 8,000 dollar rings being under my xmas tree:)
