Today’s Attire: Winter Whites

by jennine on December 11, 2010

winter white dress

Winter white is so delightful. If I weren’t so messy, I’d wear white every day… there is something so luxurious, so hopeful, so lively about white clothes. In the summer they’re breezy and in the winter it’s cozy like a snow bunny. I have this vintage 20’s inspired dress made in the 80’s that is a staple in my wardrobe. I don’t wear it all the time, but I do wear it often, particularly in the winter layered with chunky cardigans and all kinds of knits. And the great thing about winter whites, is that you can mix it up with the soft neutrals. This season in particular, there are a lot of sheer whites available, so layering is key, especially since there camel has become the “new black” which is great for pairing with white.

I’ve been obsessed with getting all the cozy things you need in winter, like gloves, hats, mittens, sweaters. I’m really playing it up this year. These mittens I picked up at H&M were about $6 and have fleece lining. They’re perfect for chilly days, and are darling. The only thing about mittens, is it feels like I’m wearing oven mitts on my hands, and for some strange reason, I walk around as if that’s what they were. You know that oven mitt walk. It’s similar to the walk surgeons do once they put on the rubber gloves.

Wearing: Coat, bag and dress: Vintage • Hat: Pinky Otto • Tights: Urban Outfitters • Shoes: Lumiani • Mittens: H&M

That graffiti wall makes me excited! That’s the one thing about taking pictures in NYC, there’s so much great scenery. The graffiti walls are few and far between in DC and Maryland.

Heh, that’s right next to my apt! It’s kind of funny because after a while you don’t notice as much. :) But yeah, there’s lots of scenes to pick from in NY! It’s kind of crazy actually…

I agree about whites! My dream would be to wear only white during a winter but it’s absolutely impossible thanks to all the mud form the melting snow!
I love that you combined very wintery things with that summery dress. Love it!
