Holiday in Bavaria

Happy Christmas! Well, to those of you who celebrate the holiday… for those who don’t… Happy regular Friday! I’ve been in Bavaria this week, with limited internet connection…which I have to say is nice, but I miss you. The days have been full of doing countryside things, like taking walks in the snow, going to little towns visiting castles (that don’t allow photos, hmmpfh.) I got a little bit of a cold the last few days… which seems to be typical of my winter vacations. At least it’s not as bad a last year when I was stuck in bed for a month.

While my outfits are really on the casual side, and not really that blog worthy, the atmosphere is indeed worth sharing. Rocky and I are at his parents house for Christmas, where two years ago I shared what the holiday looks here. It’s all very other worldly. I mean, come on… How many times have you seen white ponies in the snow?

Bavaria is heavily Catholic, in fact the Pope Benedict XVI is from the region. How can you get more Catholic than the Pope? It’s also evident with all the Jesuses and Mary’s around… which I think is very pretty to look at when randomly walking on the street and to pass by a Jesus or a Mary.

As much as I enjoy walking, it’s the dog, Fynn that gets us out. Here he is engrossed in a game of fetch with a large stick.

Merry Christmas!

Oh thank you very much for these wonderful photos!!

I love Germany but I never got the chance to visit it during a snowy winter: the typical Bavaria style covered with snow really makes you feel inside one of the Grimm brothers novels and it’s really Christmas atmosphere!

Happy Holidays!!

Spectacular images, Jennine. So glad you posted them. Love Fynn! And the religious imagery is just lovely, for me at least.

Merry Christmas!

Oh my goodness, you’re in paradise. It looks like a fairy tale. I would love to be in a place that embodies the true meaning of Christmas: it IS a Christian holiday after all. Mary and Joseph is what it’s all about. And the little guy of course :) Love that shot of the wintery laneway; beautiful.

Merry Christmas, Jennine! The photos look incredible. I’m jealous of your other worldy christmas. I am originally from Poland and this reminds me very much of the small town my grandparents live in, especially with all the Jesus and Marys. Pope John Paul II was of course, from Poland. :) Perhaps one year, I can have my very own other worldy Christmas with my grandparents. :)
