In the Garden with ADAM SS11

by jennine on April 14, 2011

Springtime never seems to last long enough. By the time it rolls around, the first few days of sun give us all the case of deliriums, then summer sets in. Don’t get me wrong, I love summer….but it doesn’t have the excitement spring has… that and I’m not so good with weather extremes. Getting dressed for spring is often do you invest in a few pieces that will translate well into a summer wardrobe? Baby blue, pale pink, lavender all are wonderful colors but the fact remains, once summer rolls around the color pallet heats up too. So what’s a girl to do? I have lived in seasonless climates long enough to know what colors work… indigo blue, a bolder yellow, any light denim, white, red (reds are great all year long). What I loved about ADAM’s SS11 is that it really articulates the spring feeling but the pieces would all translate well into the summer months. Blue coral patterned chiffons, chambray shirts, a leather mini that distinctly feels like runner shorts (I might take a hiatus from my mini hiatus here), and lace number to die for. The collection is the kind of clothes you would love to wear, so easy to dress up or dress down.

We took a visit to the boutique in the Meatpacking District to get a close up look at what they had in store. It was great to see the floaty weights of the silk blouses, and the suede texture of the shirt dresses. I really loved the prints and laces the most which all were very rich.

I love the originality of these pieces. Each one seems to have a certain detail or design element that is completely new and fresh while staying within the classic framework-like the brown leather skirt with the curved edges and the oxford shirt that is cut like a cape. There is some risk-taking here that has really paid off!

Miss Jennine, I love this post! Adam Lippes is one of my favorite designers. I feel like everything he creates genuinely appeals to my own personal style. And I love how his designs are exciting while also being completely wearable.

Anyway, thank you for this look into the boutique!
