No matter what I do, I cannot escape wearing liquid black liner. I’ll stray every now and then, but the liquid black liner will continue to be a staple for the foreseeable future. However, not all liners are created equal. Recently, I had started using Makeup Forever liners, starting with the pencil liner which is fantastic, they’ve relaunched a color collection for their Aqua Liner, where I was given this sample. The colors are indeed substantial, my heart will always belong to basic black.
Does it really last forever?
Well, nothing actually lasts for ever… but Makeup Forever Aqua Liner ($23) does not smudge, or rub off. I’ve been wearing it for a week, and have never had to reapply half way through the day. I’ve yet to experience smudging, flaking, sliding or anything like that with this. The downside to this is that you really have to use a good eye makeup remover to get it off, because normal cleanser will still require a bit of scrubbing.
How’s the Liner Brush?
I can apply liquid liner with a toothbrush if the occasion arises (it hasn’t), however one thing I’ve noticed is with liquid liners brushes are finicky. Gels you have to be diligent about keeping a clean brush, some are too stiff, while others not enough. The makeup forever brush has been really good to me while applying a steady flow of black liner. A+.

I love the L’Oreal Line Stiletto liquid liner. It’s got a good felt-tip brush and dark black color that can draw a super thin line or bold, thick one. It lasts all day, and it’s a drugstore cheapie (around $8).
oh yeah! i used that for a long time! i love loreal’s products, they’re the best you can get at a drugstore… by far.
I don’t use liquid liner because I am clumsy, but I should try again sometime. I do swear by those cutip makeup applicators with the pointy ends because they make it almost possible for me to achieve a straight line of whatever thickness I am going for that day!

oh yeah, it took me years to get the liquid thing right…but never heard of qutip! great tip!
Interesting. My eyeliner ALWAYS smears, so I’m going to check this one out.

I LOVE Bourjois Paris’ liner in Prune. It’s not available… anywhere anymore, so I always have to track it down on eBay!

oooh makeup forever has a purple one that’s quite nice, but it may be too purple?
I just bought some Urban Decay liquid liner and I love it! But when it runs out, I may try this stuff!

My favorite liquid eyeliner is MAC, the brush is almost like a felt tip pen that you would buy to draw from a art supplies store. & it will smudge when you first apply but after it sets it is there to stay.
For the last year I have been using MAC’s Fluidline in Blacktrack with the Precise Eyeliner Brush. I find that it goes on smoothly, is really easy to apply and lasts through the day. It is also great for making a great cat-eye flick. It also lasts forever. I have had the same little pot for over a year and there is still tonnes left!

Artdeco liquid liner is pretty amazing too, it even looks pretty much like the makeupforever one. It never smudges, even after sweating in the sun and putting on greasy sunscreen in the face.
Great find! I wear liquid liner just about every day, and I’m lucky if I can get it to last until lunch.
What kind of nail polish are you wearing in this post? I NEED a good multi-color glitter polish in my life!

Right now I’m using a cream liner from Maybelline that is amazing. Honestly, it’s the best liner I’ve ever used and I’ve tried EVERYTHING out there. The brush is just stiff enough and I don’t find it needs to be “diligently” cleaned for it to work. Once the liner sets it’s there all day. I’ve slept in it more times than I care to admit and woken up with perfect cat eyes still in place.
I adore liquid liner-I rarely go without it these days! I’ve tried a ton of different ones on the market over the years; from pen-style liners to gel. Earlier this year I finally found my DREAM liner-it goes on smoothly, applies with a brush (I prefer a brush-tip to a felt-tip style one; that’s just me though!
, and lasts even when I’ve slept with it on (oops!). It’s MAC’s “Liquidlast” liner in black. Love this stuff. Now that’s it’s getting hot and humid in Florida, it doesn’t budge at all-no matter how sticky it gets outside. Just wish I could find a mascara that didn’t start to rub off in the heat… Even the “waterproof” ones don’t work. Augh!

oooh i’ll have to give it a try! although i don’t like the mac counter by my office, but that liner sounds promising!
I also like liquid eyeliner. (Yours looks pretty amazing!) I am addicted to brown - black is too severe on me.
I am currently using a Clinique liquid/cream eyeliner, which comes in a little pot, and I use the brush that comes with it to apply. It lasts really well and I find it easy to apply.
(PS: I still recall a post you did on refreshing make-up supplies. You are the reason I now do that with all my essentials! Clinique owes you! Heh.)

Love most Make Up For Ever products, can’t wait to get more at the Makeup Show this weekend (you should totally go) but I have to say I LOVE NYX liquid felt tip liner. It’s in expensive, inky black AND it lasts without flaking or smudging.
omg now i have to decide if i should go!!!
I have oily eyelids and Asian eyes that don’t have much of a crease, which means liquid liner usually lasts about an hour before it starts migrating. Recently I started using Geisha Ink and it’s amazing! The formula truly is rubproof and smudgeproof and lasts all day. It won’t hold up against tears, but it does last for everyday wear and through a sweaty night of salsa dancing. The brush tip is superfine so it’s easy to draw a superthin or a thick yet precise line.

I really like Almay liquid liner. It lasts from the time I apply to the very end of the day regardless of how many hours I wear it. It’s very reasonably priced and I can find it at my local drug store or big box retailer.
wow that is intense. ALSO, OMG I LOVE YOUR NAILS!!!

I really love revlon colorstay liquid eyeliner as an alternative to the one you’re showing.. the brush is very similar and it stays on all day without flaking. Lately though, I’ve been using L’oreal lineur intense and although i love it, it does tend to flake.

I use the Topshop one, which does last a bit, though since I moved to the South of Spain I have noticed that the humidity in the air is a different challenge… and it’s not as resistant…maybe I need to be more generous with the primer and prepping the area better? Loving the comments on this post, by the way, A LOT of useful info

I have zero abilities with liquid eyeliner. It looks terrible on me! I’m a smudgy liner kind of gal.
