While skirt lengths are all over the place this year, one thing I’m glad to see back is the midi. Or that’s what they’ve been calling it these days anyway… So tired of seeing my thighs, and as a petite the maxi is just too long. it’s a bit of the Goldilocks syndrome, but with brown hair. This ‘dress’ is actually a max skirt that has sat in my closet for ages. A big fan of changing skirts into dresses, this one was particularly easy with the elastic waist band that holds up better than any other strapless dress and the length that even a Catholic private school would approve of. Today there’s a slight breeze in the air, so I put on my stand-by denim jacket. It’s loosely fit and super comfortable for days like today. With the messy beehive and the vintage necklace scored on Etsy from Miss Vintage Jewelry for a reasonable price of $24, today is all about rocking the 1960′s bad girl look. Well, not that bad.

I love this outfit! I recently bought a skirt in a thrift store. I liked the pattern and the fabric, but it was too long (I’m also quite petite). I bought it anyway thinking I would wear it as a dress…and this outfit is exactly what I had in mind. Can’t wait to wear it now…

Great outfit. I love how the accessories elevate this look from a simple dress-and-jean-jacket ensemble into something chic and fun.
What skirt is that from AA? The long double chiffon one? I love the idea of having multi-uses for it!

Such a classy look…and the necklace is perfect. The midi length gives this a chic air that would have been a fun air with a shorter length….I like chic!!

Yes! Midi is such a great length for us shorter girls (though it is, admittedly, nice that even mini skirts on us aren’t scandalous) and I really adore this look! Simple and chic. That necklace is beyond gorgeous too!

The necklace is “traffic stopping amazing! ” I love turning skirts into dresses as well, probably why it’s difficult to just get rid of some things… I just want to get the full wear out of a piece of fabric! haha! Enjoy the weekend.

Hi sweetheart, you look amazing! I love everything about this outfit, the nude shoes, the necklace, the cut of your dress. Very urban-chic! I love that you reworked the skirt as a dress, I like to rework my pieces too, it keeps my wardrobe fresh on a low budget. Also, I am always dreaming of new dresses when I am sleeping, and in the morning I start sewing them. It is not normal, I am sure, but what is normal anyway? It sure is fun! I would love to be able to wear maxis, but they do nothing for my curvy frame. Oh well, midis are lovely too. Hugs from Norway!

The quintessential summer look! A friend of mine has a few skirts that she turns into dresses during the summer. I’ve never tried it, but maxi skirts never look right on me so this is an alternative if I find one I like.
Love, love, LOVE the pendant!
Oh, and here’s a tip about maxi dresses-If it’s sized s/m/l, if you go down a size it fits better. I’m 5’2 and got my first one a few weeks ago. Going down a size made all the difference in the world.

Really nice outfit, you have actually inspired me for a certain dress I have that I hardly wear
Those shades still look stunning on you, and that necklace is simply stunning, there are so many gorgeous things in Etsy I have to avoid going on it: I can’t afford anything right now, so it’s off limits! xx

I have an almost identical maxi skirt I picked up at a clothing swap that I plan to wear as a dress. Being 5 foot nothing, real maxi just dresses just don’t work on me without some serious hemming!
What a perfect summer look. That vintage necklace is a stunner! Oh and you’re making me want to go get a pedi! HAHA
What a smart idea Jennine- and you look absolutely stunning- the necklace was the perfect addition!
You look great in this outfit, the background is gorgeous!
