Every now and then I get the lipstick itch. You know, when every color bores you and it’s time to shake things up. I’ve gone through that every now and again, then falling back on a trusted shade. Usually I wear red or nude, so it was time to shake it up. Lately, I’ve seen a lot of great colors. Fuchsia, orange, even black. Last night I went to go pick up a new lipstick and was thinking more along the lines of coral, but walked out with MAC’s Up The Amp in PURPLE. It just seemed right. Thinking back to how much I love orange or fuchsia in place of red, going to purple in place of pink is a nice way to mix things up. Thinking back, I remember the first time I wore fuchsia lipstick in 2002, people thought it was crazy, now it’s everywhere. I think we’ll be seeing a lot more shades of purple again. From lilac to deep violet it’s just the right twist to make a statement.
Over the weekend I also picked up Make Up Forever: Rouge Artist Intense #40. It’s a bit orangier than So Chaud, but it still looks like red on me. Maybe one day I’ll find that brilliant orange, but for now, this is just fine.

I love them both! I’ve been on a bold lipstick kick, but I mean really - how many red and pink lipsticks can you wear? I’m definitely going to try something orange. Thanks for the inspiration- you look great!!

Try MAC’s Lady Danger, that’s definitely orange and matte. I think it might give you the orange you’re looking for but the one posted looks pretty good too.

I love that you’re not afraid to try new things. Red lipstick looks nice on you. My comfort zone is with lipgloss or a nude/pink lipstick. I guess I can be boring that way. =)

A couple months ago, I picked up a beautiful shade of orange by Revlon, their Super Lustrous in Siren. I was looking hard for an orange lipstick and this was just the perfect shade!
Covergirl also has a beautiful shade of coral. And the new natural lipsticks have a nice shade of red-orange.

I have Up the Amp, but it has never quite worked out on me. Just not a complimentary color. Have given up and stick with colors found in nature.
Try Guerlain for red-oranges, or the Rouge Coco line.
Woo hoo, love the purple and MAC lipsticks are my favourite plus they have that great recycling program where you get a free lippy if you return six empties. The orange looks fabulous with your olive skin; a terrific shade on you.
