On The Streets: A Splash of Red

For a long time, I was afraid to wear anything red. “It’s too flashy,” “It’s not my style,” “The color doesn’t work for me,” I would protest. I’m not sure why, but something clicked this season and now I can’t seem to get enough of the vivacious shade. I’ve learned to treat the red items in my wardrobe like a neutral-it’s versatile enough to work with prints but also pairing it with solids brings a pop of color to an otherwise basic outfit.

Now that I’ve fallen in love with red, I’ve been noticing the color everywhere and observing how other women incorporate it into their style. With the summer humidity it seems like simple red pieces punctuated with funky jewelry is how New Yorkers keep their looks easy but unique. But for the more daring, like the lady above, a red embroidered silk top is always a great way to keep cool and still give your outfit some heat.

Lately I’ve been obsessing over the color red. I love the idea of this as the “it” color for fall/winter. While I like the warmer shades of brown, beige, blue and green, I think red and purple will bring the the perfect pop of color.

I’ve always been apprehensive about red as well, but maybe this will inspire me to give it a try.

I love RED. Red is one of the most important colours of all. It’s very sexy, voluptuous, daring and lively.
