For the last million years, I’ve been in perpetual search of the perfect handbag. I like bags… on other people. With me, they’re often times sad appendages, afterthoughts of an outfit. It’s not that I have any adverse feelings about them, but from thinking about them as ‘investment pieces’ getting a bag has to be something that I’m absolutely, beyond a shadow of a doubt in love with.
Shoes, on the other hand have been a long string turbulent relationships, the comfortable shoes I’ve treated the worst wearing them out to smithereens, the impossible ones held up on a pedestal breaking my feet each time we play. Well, like anytime I’ve ever fallen in love, when it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be, the love is packaged in a way that’s impervious to any of my emotional issues.
Sounds like we’re having a therapy session? Maybe…for the last few months, I had been contemplating taking the plunge with an “it bag” even though they’re really out of my league financially. Walking down the street with my husband, I saw the perfect bag in a window of a small boutique, MIN-K, in the East Village, multi colored, structured just right. A cheery blue that would soothe the worst mood. I walked in and asked for the bag in the window. The sales assistant told me it was from Korea, so no one could spot I got it from Zara or Topshop (not that I don’t shop there) and the price was less than a pair of shoes, so I bought it, and couldn’t be happier.

That REALLY is a great bag, Jennine! I can see it working really well with the clothes in your closet too…the satchel shape is really classic, but the color combination makes it unique! What a lovely piece.

I thought I was the only one who had this relationship with shoes + bags. Even though i own many, i often struggle with how to wear them, what to ro, etc. Compounding that is the fact that my bags have to fight for arm space with the diaper bag…Grrrrr…..
This is entire look is fabulous..so chic…and I have to admit my eye went first to the necklace and second to the handbag…both are great pieces. This is a color combo I love right now…just cannot get enough of the different greys and silvers…leopards….and browns…I love the way the yellow and blue pop with the whole look. Finally, I really like your background for the picture!!

I don’t know if I’ll ever find the perfect bag, that idea is always changing and morphing into something new. I sketch so many bags, I wish I could just make them myself! Maybe one day
But I do love that unexpected color combination, the blue is a soothing blue.

Deeply dying over this whole look, but since I am a horrible handbag addict, I have to tell you, you knocked it out of the park with this one! It’s so nice to see someone rave about a bag that isn’t a Mulberry or a Proenza Schouler. Not that they aren’t lovely, but variety is great.
