I hate to admit it but it’s almost the end of summer…and for me, it’s always bittersweet. It means no more beach trips and cute shorts but it’s also the end of oppressive humidity and melting makeup. For a lot of people, that also means back-to-school season and although its been awhile since I last stepped foot in a classroom, I can’t help but get excited over the prep-school trend that’s been everywhere.
Jennine wrote about her adorable multi-colored satchel here and not only do I love its unique colors, but its structured and proper look really make it a standout bag. Of course there’s the “It Bag”- the highly coveted PS1 that whenever I see on the streets, I have to wonder “…is that real?” (Does anyone else do that?) The canvas and suede version we spotted downtown is the perfect mix of elegance and casual-cool which shows why exactly this bag is “It.”
But what I really love seeing are girls who mix these school-boy accessories with feminine pieces like soft tops or lace skirts. The contrast keeps the look from being one-dimensional and much more interesting.
Hm, is that school bell I hear? It may be time for me to find a class just so I have an excuse to pick up a new satchel!

This summer went by so fast! I still enjoy school prep style even though I’m no longer a student. Besides the stylish school satchels, I’m really lovin’ the Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Backpack. =)
