It may have been a while since I watched The Simpsons, but after nearly 15 years of watching them every day, the image of Marge’s green strapless dress is seared into my mind. Personally, I’ve always thought it to be a little sexy for all the housework she does, and by the fact that Homer isn’t too fancy. This season, a couple of designers have had dresses that remind me of the dresses worn by Marge (and Lisa has a similar style) dress.
I love the simplicity of this style but wonder how it would work in real life.. with a blazer? With a string of red pearls? Who knows, although I’m pretty sure this style was probably one of the first ever created by humans, its simplicity sits in a place where I’m not quite sure if I love it or hate it, and you know that’s usually a very good sign.

OK…the Marge Simpson example just made me laugh!! I am not a fan of this, but then again I do not have the body for this style.

They look good on models, but I think I would look like a sack in one!

I like the pink version the best but I think the shape is super unflattering. It doesn’t even look good on the models and that is a strong hint for how bad it will look on the rest of us mere mortals.

The dresses do have a chic-Marge Simpson vibe to them. Lovin’ the pink one. =)

I really love these dresses, simple but elegant.

The Marge Simpson dress! It’s missing a certain element of practicality and it doesn’t flatter the feminine physique, neither does it show off the designer’s skill so I don’t really “understand” this dress.

Hahaha
I’d never have thought of this comparison! But to be honest, I don’t think it’s one of the most flattering shapes out there, which means that this trend will probably not find its way to my wardrobe…

Hah! Marge Simpson! Nailed it! These designer bath towels don’t do any body any favors. Even the young, thin and gorgeous look good in spite of the dress, not because of it. Like the slip dress plague of the 90s, this style is not minimal, it is non-design.
Love them! Simple, clean silhouette and so chic!!! The pink one is my all time favorite!
