Fall Favorite: Leather Midi Skirt

by jennine on September 28, 2011

As long as I can remember, I’ve been a skirt person. Separates in general are handy because, well, think of the possibilities! But when it comes to skirts, it’s easy to get carried away. This fall, I’ve made investments in two skirts in particular, a red wool one from J Crew and this Raoul Leather Midi Skirt… It’s amazing how a midi can be so versatile, as soon as I took it home, I tried it on with just about everything I owned.  The leather is so soft, and the lining so silky. It was quite a heafty investment, but there are advantages to a leather skirt:

  • It’ll keep you as warm as you need… think of the layering!
  • It’s black and if you spill, just wipe it off.
  • It goes with everything in your closet. Guaranteed.
  • Leather adds edge to an otherwise conservative style.

Besides, during winter months, I can imagine wearing with thick wool tights, and knee high boots. The midi length is so great because it can easily be integrated with boots without having the knee show… one of my big pet peeves. But until then, I’m going to be wearing this skirt with a simple pair of heels and pretend like I’m a 1940′s Head Mistress. Now if only I had a ruler.

Love this. I almost snagged a similar one at Elie Tahari last night, and now I’m wishing I had!

Gorgeous skirt. I’m to afraid of that length since I’m so short. I usually aim for right below the knee.

i’m really short too, maybe this one is supposed to go below the knee but it hits me mid-calf? hmm…

“Now if only I had a ruler.”

Um, super hard not to make dirty jobs dudette.

I love this look. Someone mentioned the pop of blue, but it’s the shimmer of gold that does it for me…

You look so elegant. That skirt is perfect! I have very similar one from Gap & I wear it a lot during fall and winter. It looks very chic, it’s almost like a perfect black skirt but with a twist. :)
