I love, love, love wearing a sweatshirt and jeans. Sometimes. Today was just one of those days, when I said, “Sweatshirt and jeans.” Fall is creeping in, the chilly mornings, the dry air blowing in. I love every second of it.
Believe it or not, a sweatshirt can be dressed up. Fancy sweats, as I like to call them have been around for a few years. Alexander Wang coined the current round of fancy sweatpants. And I’ve been seeing cashmere sweaters in sweatshirt styles, and sweatshirts made with greater quality. I just want to keep warm you know! Yesterday, I picked up a striped sweatshirt on sale at Madewell, the thing I like about this is that it’s nicely constructed, and unlike knit sweatshirts I can wash it and know it’s not going to get those god awful bobbles/pills/lint/piling whatever they’re called.
Of course I had to dress it up, what better way than to add in a sparkly statement necklace, and a crisp pair of Rag and Bone skinny jeans. I think the beauty is in the details, and if you do it right, then you’ll be able to rock just about anything.
Oh yeah.. since experimenting with Sephora’s Chinese Blossoms nail patch art… I’m converted, put these on on Monday and they’ve held up nicely all week! Love the little flowers on my nails!

GET THEE (me) TO A SEPHORA STAT.
I need those nail stickers! Also, check out the ones from Incoco if you haven’t… I got some in my Birchbox and it’s WUV TWU WUV.
ooh more nail stickers? i’m on it!
I love dressing up a sweatshirt with pearls…lol…it usually works:)
Super cute nails too!!
Have a great weekend!!
oh i haven’t tried it with PEARLS! awesome!
I have never seen those nail stickers, they are AMAZING- what sephora do you go to? I was just in the one in midtown and didn’t see them
Oh my lord, I LOVE those boots! Alas, they are out of stock in my size (and not really in my budget, TBH.)
I’ve not had very good luck with nail stickers, but I love, love, love stamping. Have you ever used the Konad or Bundle Monster plates? So much fun.
oh no.. i’ll have to check those out!
Effortless and gorgeous!
I’m a huge fan of the simple grey marl sweatshirt - it’s a classic.

Oh my! The nails!! O.O I also love the way you dressed up that simple ‘sweatshirt + jeans’ outfit, cause I do the same! Be it a statement necklace or a sparkly bracelet, the outfit needs a touch of fairy dust to be chic… But I also think the shoes are very important. I love the booties you wear in the picture, especially with the rolled up jeans! Thanks as always for the wonderful inspiration!
You look absolutely divine here. Down to every last detail.
Adorable nails!
Super cute nails! I love them.
I also love this casual look. I am slowly getting the hang of casual dressing. Going from working in an office to working from home was such a hard transition for me. Anyway, you look great!
I have many a day like this… where I just wanna snuggle all day long! What better way to dress up a comfy sweater or top than with a glitzy necklace! Love your whole comfy outfit, you look so stylish and pulled together.
xo
The nails look amazing!

Hey Jennine!
You have got great accessories and your nail polish is just super excellent. Wearing a sweat shirt is an amazing idea, I hope to get one soon as winter is approaching. Yesterday, I brought a nail polish sparkled with stars and it looks great.
Love the outfit, that necklace and polish make it so chic!
Cheers

I saw those nails at sephora the other day! i was wondering if they would actually work well. I am going to have to go back and get some for myself. Also I love the necklace. really great photos
Your nails look absolutely incredible!
Oh, and I’ve got to thank you for your post on the half-moon mani - that one looked great, too, and inspired me to play with my nails quite a bit
.
gah!! i LOVE your boots and your nails!!!
Your nails look flawless! And, I love the trench coat! You can never go wrong with a classic trench coat, and it’s the perfect fall accessory.
You’re always smart to match your dress =) Look so cool Jennine!
Hey! This post couldn’t be written any better! Reading this post reminds me of my previous room mate! He always kept talking about this. I will forward this article to him. Pretty sure he will have a good read. Thanks for sharing!
Oooh, I love your beautiful necklace! It looks great with your striped sweatshirt.
I tried the Sally Hansen stick on nails and they were really tough to file off around the cuticle. Did you think that the Sephora stickies were easy to apply? Looking at your nails is making me want to try this one more time…
You always look really great, even if this is what you call “casual”. That necklace from Shopbop in particular is a favorite of mine! Once again Jennine, you’ve pulled it off!
